The first symptoms of the disease
It all began in 2019. Our son’s epileptic seizure came suddenly, without warning, as if someone had pulled the rug out from under our feet in the middle of our everyday lives. Then the tests began. The images from the tests revealed something concerning inside Alan’s head.
My first surgery came shortly afterward. At the time, I was overcome by an immense, indescribable fear—as if every thought ended with the question: What will happen next? Every minute of waiting seemed to drag on forever.
Numerous progressions of change
Alan has now undergone four surgeries, and each one has resulted in a different diagnosis. Today, my son is battling a G1 pilomyxoid astrocytoma, or a mucinous astrocytoma.
Since the start of my son’s treatment, progression of his condition has been observed on several occasions. He is currently also dealing with weakness in his right upper and lower limbs, which developed after one of his surgeries, as well as epilepsy.

Current treatment
Once a week, we go to the hospital so Alan can receive intensive chemotherapy, which is expected to last about 10 weeks. After that, the doctors plan to start maintenance therapy for a year, and we have a follow-up MRI scheduled for August. It will show whether the current treatment is working.
Today I'm at home with Alan, staying by his side the whole time. I hold his hand when he needs it, we talk a lot, and when things are going well, we laugh. Because of his illness, my son needs help with many daily activities, which is why I can't take a job.
Everyday Joys
Alan's 11-year-old brother is also at home. My sons love each other very much and spend every free moment together. Alan's brother worries about him a lot and misses him when he's not home.
In his better moments, Alan returns to soccer, which brings a smile to his face, and when he’s at home, he can immerse himself in the world of computers for hours: he reads, observes, and discovers, step by step, how everything works from the inside. With patience, he pieces together the parts of this puzzle in his mind, as if trying to understand not only the technology but also the order that governs it.
A Difficult Journey
The costs associated with his ongoing treatment are becoming increasingly difficult to bear, which is why I would very much like to ask for support for my son Alan.
Every bit of help means the world to us and brings us closer to ensuring he receives further treatment and a chance to recover. We would be grateful for any support, for sharing the fundraiser, and for your kind words during this difficult time.
