The Attack That Changed Everything
It all started suddenly, in late April 2026, when Michał had an epileptic seizure while at work. He was taken to the hospital, where, after a series of tests, he was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Further tests and a biopsy confirmed the diagnosis: glioblastoma, the most malignant form of brain cancer. For Michał and his entire family, it was a blow straight to the heart.
The Fight for Proper Treatment
The beginning of the treatment was not easy, and the family, unwilling to wait, began seeking help on their own. Their efforts led them to one of Poland’s leading specialists in brain tumor surgery, who immediately took charge of the situation. Thanks to this, Michał was admitted to the 10th Military Hospital in Bydgoszcz, where he underwent surgery to partially remove the tumor in early June 2026. He began to recover after the procedure, but a few weeks later, another seizure forced him to return to the hospital urgently. The doctors quickly adjusted his treatment, and Michał is currently staying near the hospital in Bydgoszcz, preparing for further therapy.
A Period of Uncertainty and Waiting
After Michał’s surgery, there will be a transitional period leading up to radiation therapy and chemotherapy, which may last several weeks. This is a difficult time of uncertainty, as the exact treatment plan is still being decided, and even minor changes—such as a reduction in medication dosage—can lead to serious complications. That is precisely why Michał’s family does not want to limit themselves to a single, predetermined course of action and wants to explore all options to gain as much valuable time for him as possible.
A family that sticks together
Michał is the pillar of his family—the breadwinner who has always made everyone feel safe. His illness has changed the lives of his entire, close-knit family of nearly twenty people, who have rallied to help him. His loved ones describe him as a man who, even now, shows no fear; he smiles and cares for others, even though he is the one who needs care the most. His illness has robbed him of the ability to work, and his professional future remains uncertain; this makes the presence and love of his loved ones all the more important to him today.
A person who can't sit still
What best defines Michał is his energy. He is an incredibly active person, and cars—from classics to the latest models—are his passion; he loves spending his free time in the garage, fixing cars for his family and friends. He also loves physical activity, gardening, and DIY projects, and when there’s something he doesn’t know how to do, he reads and learns until he achieves his goal. For someone so active, one of the hardest challenges is being forced to stay still. This shows just how much Michał wants to return to a life full of movement, passion, and action.
Let's help Michał buy some time
Faced with this type of cancer, Michał’s family wants to do everything they can to ensure he receives the best possible treatment. The funds raised will go toward living expenses, transportation, rehabilitation, non-reimbursable medications, and specialized care—all of which will ensure that Michał isn’t limited to just one treatment option. Every donation gives him a real chance to spend more days with his loved ones—with the family for whom he has always meant everything. Let’s help him win this battle.
