A lump that didn't cause any symptoms
The first sign was a small lump that Brygida discovered in her supraclavicular region in December 2024. It wasn’t painful, and the only noticeable symptom was weakness. It wasn’t until blood tests conducted in the spring of 2025 that alarming results emerged, which led to her being referred to the hospital. There, after a series of tests and a biopsy, she was diagnosed in April 2025 with stage IV Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
Comprehensive treatment
From May to October 2025, Brygida underwent six cycles of chemotherapy. The treatment proved to be very taxing. The most difficult part was the back pain, which was so severe that it kept her from sleeping, and the medication offered no relief. She has now completed her chemotherapy and remains under ongoing oncological care, attending regular follow-up appointments every few months.
Life in the Shadow of Uncertainty
Although Brygida tries to live as normally as possible, her illness still has a significant impact on her daily life. She often feels tired, has to take special care of her health and avoid infections, and every follow-up exam brings immense stress and fear of a relapse. This life of uncertainty is her greatest challenge today and requires tremendous mental strength, which Brygida finds within herself every day.
Her mom, who is with her
Brygida lives with her mother and younger brother. Her mother is her greatest source of support; she helps her with her treatment and has taken over many of the household chores. Her illness has prevented Brygida from working.
Art that gives you strength
Brygida is a sensitive and creative person: she loves to sing, read books, write poetry, draw, and make things with her own hands. It is these passions that allow her to express her emotions and, if only for a moment, take her mind off her illness, reminding her of the life to which she wants with all her heart to return fully.
