Update

Agatha is fighting against excess iron in her body❗. Agatha's results improved significantly after her second transplant, and she no longer requires blood transfusions for six months. This is great news, although it doesn't mean the end of treatment yet. Our Warrior still has to come with her parents for check-ups, which take place once a month. Previously, Agatha needed monthly blood lupus, which she had to undergo regularly over a period of three years. This caused a large amount of iron to accumulate in our little Heroine's body. Removal of the excess iron will not happen on its own, so the girl must now take an iron chelating drug. We do not know what effect this will have and how Agatha's body will react to the new drug, or how long it will take to take it. "However, we hope and believe that now everything will go in the right direction and in time Agatka will return to complete health," she added. - Agatka's mom Despite the tremendous difficulties, Agatka remains in good spirits and believes that she will soon begin a new stage in her life - cancer-free. Let's help this brave Warrior take the next steps in that direction! July 26, 2024

Explore the history of

She immediately had to have a blood transfusion because of her low hemoglobin.

After several months of searching for the cause of such low blood test results, after many stays in hospitals ("Cape of Hope" in Wroclaw and CZD in Warsaw), doctors finally made a diagnosis. Agatka suffers from SCID DNA ligase I deficiency (severe combined immunodeficiency).

There are only 6 cases in the world with this variant of the disease. In Poland, Agatka is the only "case". The only way to cure the girl turned out to be a bone marrow transplant. In November 2019, an unrelated donor was found, and after Agatka returned from the CZD in Warsaw to the "Cape of Hope" in Wroclaw, the girl underwent megachemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant. She was a 4-month-old baby at the time.

After a short time, it turned out that the hemoglobin continued to drop, and for the next three years Agatka had to be transfused with blood every month. Professors from the "Cape of Hope" consulted repeatedly with specialists in medical centers around the world and decided that another bone marrow transplant was necessary. In January 2024, Agatka returned with her parents to the hospital in Wroclaw. She once again underwent megachemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant.

She was finally able to go home, although she still doesn't have the opportunity to live like an average 4.5-year-old. She often comes with her parents to "Cape of Hope" for check-ups. Agatka still has many visits to various specialists ahead of her.

The health of this brave little girl is still a great unknown.
