The silence in her voice
May 2025. Music camp, students laughing, the sound of instruments. I was exactly where I was supposed to be, in my own world. But I began to notice that something was wrong. I was losing control of my voice. The sounds were breaking up. Swallowing was getting harder and harder.
At the end of the month, I saw an ENT specialist. Right after the exam, I knew it was something serious. I was referred to Czerniakowski Hospital in Warsaw, where they performed a directoscopy and took tissue samples for testing.
The call from the hospital came sooner than expected. I was asked to come in for an urgent appointment. I was told the diagnosis: a malignant tumor in the supraglottic region of the larynx. The doctors left me in no doubt. My time was measured in weeks. The only treatment option offered was a total laryngectomy.
Your vote or your life
I’m a musician. I rap, sing, and beatbox. My voice is my tool. It’s who I am. I refused to undergo surgery that would have robbed me of my ability to create and communicate the way I’ve done my whole life.
I started looking for other options. I researched, read up on things, and made my own decisions. That’s how I ended up seeking treatment in Frankfurt.
Frankfurt. Treatment
Since July 2025, I have been traveling regularly to Frankfurt for specialized TACE treatment. This is a form of chemotherapy administered directly into the tumor. I have already undergone many such procedures. This treatment puts a heavy strain on the body, but it is effective. The tumor has shrunk. I have regained the ability to eat and, to some extent, my voice, which had previously almost disappeared. The fight is not over yet.
Cost of treatment
Every trip and every treatment is extremely expensive. My treatment costs about 20,000–25,000 zlotys a month. I live from one treatment appointment to the next. Thanks to the help of others, I sometimes manage to raise the necessary funds just before a procedure. There have been times when I’ve had to postpone treatment because I couldn’t afford it.
Between fill-ups
I live in Warsaw. My grandmother lives here too. The rest of my family lives outside the capital, but they all support me as much as they can. Despite many difficult conversations about my choice of treatment, they’re there for me. I feel like I’m not alone in all this.
Before the illness
Music has always been at the center of my world. Rap, beatboxing, handpan, teaching others. I traveled across Europe with my instrument on my back. I played on the streets, slept on the road, and lived for music. I want to get back to that.
I would like to continue my treatment
Without support, I won’t be able to continue. Every bit of help gives me time, and every donation is another chance. I want to live, and I want to keep my voice.
