Onset of illness
It all started in 2023. A routine visit, a few tests, some waiting, and then a diagnosis that turned my whole world upside down: spindle cell sarcoma. First came the shock, then the fear. In an instant, my everyday life crumbled like a house of cards.
Treatment
Ever since the disease was diagnosed, doctors have tried many different treatments. There was radiation therapy—quiet and precise. However, it left lasting marks, and my skin needed time to heal. There were various types of chemotherapy and different methods of administration. I also turned to vitamin infusions to help my body fight the disease. Every day of treatment was a mix of great hope and extreme physical exhaustion.
Over the past few years of treatment, time has ceased to be something I take for granted. Days could drag on endlessly, spent somewhere between appointments, tests, and waiting. I’ve also learned patience—the kind that endures despite the pain and fatigue.
Challenges
In the meantime, the disease didn’t stand still. Metastases appeared in my lungs and liver. I also experienced the side effects of treatment. My body increasingly refused to cooperate. Things that used to be routine became a struggle. Today, even moving around can be a challenge. Every step requires more strength than it used to.
Everyday Life
These days, I spend most of my time at home. My illness has kept me from working, and I’m on disability.
I have my family around me. I feel their presence and care every day. Every conversation, every time they hold my hand, is incredibly precious to me. It gives me strength to keep fighting.
Sometimes I find myself thinking back to how things used to be. To the smell of the meals I used to cook for my family, to peaceful walks with my beloved dog, to moments spent in the garden tending to the plants. They were ordinary moments that are priceless to me today.
Help
Treatment is extremely expensive. Medications, physical therapy, and travel expenses are essential for me to keep fighting. That is why I am asking for your help today. Every bit of support gives me a real chance to win the battle against cancer.
