A small change

In October 2024, a small growth appeared on the roof of my mouth. It didn’t seem like anything to worry about—just a tiny, almost imperceptible growth. But it kept bothering me. I made an appointment with the doctor, more out of caution than out of any real concern. I just wanted to hear that everything was okay.

The doctor examined the lesion very carefully. His expression immediately turned serious. He said a biopsy was needed for histopathological testing. Waiting for the results was hard. It’s hard to describe, because even then I had the thought in the back of my mind that my life might change at any moment. The results came back sooner than I expected. A mixed salivary gland tumor.

Anxiety

The following year brought numerous visits, tests, and consultations with specialists. Each appointment brought with it a weight of new questions that arose in my mind. Some of them were answered; others remained unresolved.

When the doctor couldn't give me an answer, I felt a growing sense of anxiety that I couldn't shake. Eventually, I received further news: a local recurrence.

Operation

In early March, I was admitted to the otolaryngology ward. I underwent surgery to remove the growth, and that’s when I truly believed that this chapter of my life was closed, that I was returning to how things were before the diagnosis. Back to my beloved life.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to enjoy it for long. More test results came back. Malignant salivary gland tumor—polymorphous adenocarcinoma.

Request for support

And in the midst of all this are my two wonderful children, who are by my side whenever they can.

In a few days, I’ll be stepping through the hospital doors again. I’ll see those white corridors once more, and I’ll smell that familiar scent again. Another surgery awaits me, along with more uncertainties. I’m scared. Maybe I’ll hear something I’m not ready for again.

That is why today, more than ever, I am asking for your support and for your kind thoughts. This journey is difficult; I cannot face it alone.
