Cancer developed quietly

It is unbelievable how one moment can break a life. What is everyday, ordinary and safe, in one second can turn into the extreme opposite - into fear, pain and unimaginable uncertainty.
Veronica had been experiencing abdominal pains for some time, which she did not see as a sign of imminent danger. Doctors reassured her that it was nothing serious. Conservative treatment, a follow-up visit, routine tests - everything was within the bounds of prevention.
Yet the test result turned her world into dust. On November 5, 2023, Veronika heard words that are hard to repeat without shuddering: stage IIIB malignant cervical cancer. In an instant, everything she knew was obscured by the shadow of the disease.

Treatment full of pain and hope

In January 2024, Veronica began four brachytherapy treatments. Shortly thereafter, she underwent an eight-week course of radiochemotherapy. The treatment was difficult and debilitating, but offered a shadow of hope that the cancer had been defeated. Finally, there were four more brachytherapy treatments - the final stage of the battle to end this painful chapter.
However, in September 2025, the disease returned. Stronger, more dangerous, with metastasis.

Life between pain and mom's duties

Veronika is 34 years old and a mother of two children: eleven-year-old Antos and eight-year-old Angelina. It is for them that she fights - with pain, with fear, with helplessness. She wants to watch them grow up, learn the world, and go their separate ways with their mom beside them.

Unfortunately, her condition no longer allows her to do her job in the trade. Every day is a battle with pain, which is relieved by strong opioid drugs. Children experience mom's illness, become sadder, more thoughtful. Veronica to keep her balance, He uses private psychotherapy.
In this daily life, there is as much courage as the human heart can hold.

Home - a safe haven

Currently, Veronika is staying at home, close to her children. She is being treated at the Oncology Center in Bydgoszcz, which she commutes to from Pila. The help she will receive will become a support not only in fighting the disease, but also in maintaining the daily peace of her home.

She used to be a force, today she seeks the remnants of it within herself

Veronica loves sports. She trained boxing and felt the power and balance in herself. She liked mountains, traveling and books. Today, that strength has been replaced by hope - gentle, but still present. It's what allows her to get up each day, look into the eyes of her children and believe that tomorrow can be better.
