Every day, Michał tries to live a normal life, even though for over two years his daily routine has been dominated by his battle with brain cancer and the severe side effects of treatment. Not long ago, he worked as a construction manager, led an active life, and pursued his passions. Today, caught between his professional responsibilities and hospital corridors, his main goal is simply not to give up.

A diagnosis that came out of the blue

It all began in late November 2023. Further testing revealed a very serious condition: an IDH-mutant astrocytoma, a Grade III brain tumor according to the WHO classification. On November 20, 2023, Michał underwent surgery to remove the tumor at the neurosurgery department on Banacha Street in Warsaw. The procedure was performed under local anesthesia.

Although part of the tumor was successfully removed, it was not completely excised. This means that further treatment and regular follow-up are necessary, as gliomas of this type very often recur.

Devastating treatment and the struggle to regain fitness

After the surgery, intensive cancer treatment began. Michał underwent a series of radiation treatments at the cancer hospital in Kielce, followed by nine months of chemotherapy administered in monthly cycles. The treatment took a heavy toll on his body. After the procedure, the entire right side of his body became paralyzed. Thanks to his tremendous determination and rehabilitation, Michał regained some of his mobility, but he still struggles with paralysis.

In addition, cancer is not the only health issue he has to contend with. Michał also has a sarcoma in his right foot and kidney failure that requires hemodialysis. So every day brings more hospital visits, treatment, and a struggle to keep his body in the best possible condition.

He tries to live a normal life despite his illness

Despite his very difficult situation, Michał refuses to give up on life and work. He continues to try to carry out his duties as a construction manager, although frequent hospitalizations, treatment, and his weakened physical condition make this very difficult for him. The biggest challenge today is simply not to give up. It is this determination that allows him to keep fighting every day despite the pain, fatigue, and uncertainty associated with the possibility of a relapse.

Sports gave him strength

Before his illness, Michał led a very active life. He loved boxing, cycling, and rock climbing. Sports were an important part of his daily life and gave him a tremendous amount of energy. Today, his main goal is to regain as much of his physical fitness as possible and maintain the strength he needs to keep fighting.

The funds raised will be used to cover the cost of medication, ongoing treatment, transportation to medical facilities, and physical therapy to help him overcome the paralysis resulting from his brain surgery. We ask for your support for Michał. Every contribution gives him a better chance at continued treatment, rehabilitation, and the hope that, despite his serious illness, he will be able to regain at least some of his former life.
