Music filled almost every day of Alek’s life. Playing the trumpet, school competitions, Scouting, and family trips to the mountains were his whole world. Everything changed the moment his vision began to deteriorate and he started having trouble concentrating. No one suspected at the time that a brain tumor was the cause of these symptoms. Today, Alek fights every day to regain his health and the life that the disease suddenly put on hold.

The diagnosis that turned everyday life upside down

Toward the end of November 2025, Alek’s parents noticed that something was wrong with him. Problems with his vision and difficulty concentrating were beginning to have an increasingly significant impact on his daily life. Further tests revealed the diagnosis no one wanted to hear: a brain tumor.

In an instant, the entire family’s life became centered on their son’s treatment and the fight to save his health. Fear, uncertainty, and a flood of emotions set in, and they struggle to cope with them every day.

A long road to recovery

Between December 2025 and February 2026, Alek underwent chemotherapy. Then, on March 16, 2026, he had surgery to remove a brain tumor. It was a very difficult and exhausting time for the whole family. Unfortunately, the treatment left him with serious aftereffects. Today, Alek struggles with double vision and a significant deterioration in his eyesight. His vision problems mean that he requires constant help and support with many daily activities.

In May, he began proton therapy in Kraków. For many weeks, from Monday to Friday, he has had to travel regularly for specialized radiation treatments. Alek’s body is very weak after the intensive treatment, and he still has a long rehabilitation process and further specialist consultations ahead of him.

The house became a place of healing and struggle

After his surgery, Alek is staying at his family home, where he is surrounded by the love and care of his loved ones. His mom and dad are taking care of him together, doing their best to make him feel safe and at ease.

There are also three siblings at home, for whom their brother’s illness has been a very difficult experience. The children are trying to adjust to a new reality filled with stress and uncertainty. The parents must divide their attention between their sick son, the other children, and their daily responsibilities. Today, the entire family’s life revolves around Alek’s treatment, checkups, and rehabilitation.

The boy who loved the mountains, music, and challenges

Alek is an extremely ambitious and talented teenager. Music has always been his great passion—playing the trumpet brought him joy and gave him the opportunity to develop his talent. He also loves math, logic puzzles, and chess. He has represented his school in competitions on numerous occasions, achieving excellent results.

Scouting also plays an important role in his life; it has taught him responsibility, perseverance, and how to help others. Before his illness, he loved being active, playing sports, and going on family trips to the mountains. Today, the greatest challenges are things that used to come completely naturally to him: taking care of himself, getting around, and the daily struggle with the limitations he faces following his treatment.
