Small, painless, yet dangerous
The change on her left thigh, which appeared in November 2024, was minor, painless, and for a long time gave no cause for concern. The lack of discomfort made it difficult to associate it with anything serious. Until then.
In September 2025, its presence became clearly noticeable, and new symptoms appeared. Sofiia began to lose weight, and the pain in her thigh, previously sporadic and mainly associated with exertion, became more intense and frequent, especially in the evenings.

The decision to perform a biopsy was a turning point. The result disrupted the everyday life of a young girl who, until recently, had been living the typical life of an 18-year-old.
Alveolar soft part sarcoma. This medical term refers to a rare and extremely difficult to treat cancer that requires immediate, specialized diagnosis and care.
More bad news
Imaging tests revealed metastases in her lungs. It was at this point that fear and confusion became a permanent feature of Sofia's everyday life. From then on, her life was dominated by regular check-ups, consultations, and waiting for decisions from doctors who would determine the further course of her treatment.
This type of cancer is resistant to conventional chemotherapy, which ruled out standard treatment with cytostatics. Therefore, immunotherapy with atezolizumab at a dose of 750 mg administered intravenously was used.
Sofiia remains under the constant care of the Oncology Clinic and undergoes regular comprehensive diagnostics, including blood tests, urine tests, magnetic resonance imaging, computed tomography, ECG, and advanced genetic testing.
These tests can indicate the most targeted and effective course of treatment.
Daily life with the disease
Sofiia stays at home, but her illness has significantly limited her mobility and independence. Fatigue, pain, and constant anxiety about the future are gradually replacing spontaneity and joy.
It is also a huge psychological burden. The illness has taken away her sense of security and forced her to face questions that an 18-year-old girl should not yet be looking for answers to. Her family tries to be close to her and support her every day, although the uncertainty of tomorrow accompanies everyone.
Sofiia loves movies and TV series, dancing, music, drawing, cooking, and walking. These are the little things that made up her youth and her way of experiencing the world. Today, many of them require much more effort, but her desire to return to her former freedom remains.
Why this assistance is so important
Detailed genetic testing of tumor tissue is extremely expensive and often unavailable in standard procedures. It can determine the choice of further treatment and the real chance of stopping the disease.
This is the moment when support becomes fundamental, allowing Sofia to reach for the possibilities of modern, precise medicine where hope is born.
Your help can bring her closer to the treatment that will give her back her future.
