Symptoms typical of allergies

Mikołaj returned from his vacation abroad with a cough that wouldn’t go away. Over time, he also developed itchy skin, which was equally difficult to explain definitively. The symptoms didn’t paint a coherent picture and didn’t point to a single, obvious diagnosis. Naturally , the assumption arose that an allergy might be the cause, so life went on just as before. School, practice—just the everyday life of a 17-year-old.

The beginning of the unrest

This condition remained largely unchanged until the end of 2025, after which it gradually worsened. An infection developed that was more severe than previous ones. The cough changed in nature, and weakness set in. Treatment did not bring about any significant improvement, and the days that followed yielded no answers. Doctors began to suspect asthma. In February, a decision was made to perform an X-ray. The image that appeared left no room for reassurance. The results came back quickly. That evening, the parents heard the preliminary diagnosis: lymphoma. A biopsy performed on March 3 confirmed the diagnosis—Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

First round of chemotherapy

March was no longer just another month. A hospital room, hours filled with tension and silence. That was when Mikołaj received his first round of chemotherapy. Everyone knew there was no choice. It was a necessity.

Constant fear

Today, it all comes down to waiting. The results of the PET scan will determine Mikołaj’s next course of treatment. Time passes much more slowly within the hospital walls, amid a constant tension that cannot be put into words. Mikołaj is accompanied by his mother, who stays by her son’s side every day. At home, his two younger brothers and his dad remain, with his dad juggling work and caring for the children. The financial situation has become an additional burden.

My mother's workplace is currently undergoing bankruptcy proceedings, which has created uncertainty and shaken the sense of stability that we had previously taken for granted.

From the playing field to the hospital room

Not long ago, Mikołaj couldn’t sit still. Soccer practices, the excitement of Arsenal matches, games, and hours spent with friends. His world was full of activity, laughter, and plans for the next day.

Now everything looks different. Where there used to be carefree days, today there is a battle that cannot be put off. That is why we are asking today: let’s help Santa return to the world he loves so much.
