In 2020, my world came to a halt. I received a diagnosis that no one is ever ready to hear: stage IV adenoid cystic carcinoma of the lacrimal gland of my left eye.
Further tests—an MRI and a PET scan—brought more difficult news. The disease was not limited to a single area. Lesions were detected in the spine, head, and neck. In an instant, everyday life turned into a grueling battle for my health.
Chemotherapy and Follow-up Treatment
Since then, my life has been marked by hospital visits, tests, consultations, and treatment. I’ve undergone many surgeries, each one a step forward in my fight against the disease. I’ve spent hours in operating rooms, weeks recovering, and moments filled with uncertainty—but also with immense hope.
My treatment is being provided by the Maria Skłodowska-Curie National Institute of Oncology in Gliwice, where I began chemotherapy. At the same time, consultations are underway regarding further treatment in Heidelberg, Germany—a place that offers the chance for subsequent stages of therapy and new possibilities.
Further difficulties
In addition, I’m dealing with anemia, high blood pressure, acid reflux, hypothyroidism, and degenerative spine disease in the lumbar region. Each of these conditions saps my strength, and together they’ve made everyday life a huge challenge.
I regularly travel to the hospital for treatment. Each visit is another step in the fight for my health, but it also takes a tremendous physical and mental toll. My illness has robbed me of the strength to perform even the simplest daily tasks. Responsibilities that once came naturally to me must now be taken over by my loved ones.
Small Moments of Joy
I’m currently at home. I live with my husband and two daughters, who shower me with care and support every day. It’s thanks to them that I find it easier to get through the toughest moments. Their presence gives me hope and reminds me that I’m not alone in this fight.
There are also moments when I forget my fear. I love reading books; they transport me to other worlds and give me a respite from the harsh realities of life. Whenever I have even a little energy left, I go out into my garden. The silence, the greenery, and being in touch with nature bring me the peace I so desperately need.
Please support me
I am currently on sick leave because my health prevents me from working. This is a very difficult time for me. Each passing month brings new expenses that are putting an increasing strain on our family budget.
That is why I am asking for your support with all my heart. Every bit of help gives me a chance to continue my treatment and allows me to focus on what matters most right now: fighting for my health and returning to a normal life.
Thank you for all the help you've given me, for your kind words, and for every thought you've directed my way.
