Difficulties

Julian has been struggling with health issues from the very beginning.

When my son was born, the doctors immediately noticed that his eyelid was drooping. Shortly thereafter, further diagnoses followed: heart murmurs and defects between the ventricles and atria.

Julek has already undergone several surgeries, and my husband and I believed that the hardest times were behind us.

Disturbing symptoms

In April, petechiae appeared on Julian’s legs. Then he developed a fever. Something told me I should see a doctor. We went to see the pediatrician, and his concern only reinforced my belief that the situation was serious. We were referred to the hospital, where he underwent thorough tests.

I'll never forget the moment when we first heard the word "leukemia."

The very next day, we arrived at Przylądek Nadziei in Wrocław. More tests, more hours of waiting, and finally, a diagnosis that brought our world to a standstill. Acute myeloid leukemia.

Everyday life in the hospital

For the past two months, a hospital room has been our home. We’re living in isolation. Julian can’t go outside or feel the sun on his face. Instead, there are tests and treatments. The first round of chemotherapy really weakened him. Then he developed a Broviac-related infection, which caused further concerns.

We are also currently awaiting the results of genetic testing, which could be of great importance for further treatment.

Brothers

Every day is a constant struggle—against illness, fear, and uncertainty. I’m with Julian all the time. I hold his hand, hug him, talk to him, and try to encourage him, even though I’m often fighting back tears myself. My husband comes to visit us every weekend because he has to work during the week.

Julian's 16-year-old brother is waiting for us at home. He's deeply affected by his younger brother's illness; he worries about him every day and does everything he can to give him strength.

Small Passions

Julian is a boy with a big heart. He loves animals, and they love him. He’s very happy when he can build something with LEGO bricks or create his own world using a 3D pencil. It’s these small, everyday moments that bring him joy and allow him to forget, if only for a moment, the hardships of his treatment.

Support

Unfortunately, reality isn't easy. Each subsequent stage involves ever-increasing costs that exceed our family's means, which is why we are humbly asking for your support.

We are very grateful for any help!
