Update

Rehabilitation, pain and the daily struggle for fitness
Janusz is still under the care of doctors. He has regular follow-up appointments with an oncologist and a neurosurgeon. Crucial to his treatment is rehabilitation, which, to be effective, must be systematically continued. Any break means the risk of undoing the progress made.

The costly day-to-day of fighting pain
In his daily functioning, Janusz struggles with chronic pain. To maintain a manageable level of function, constant use of pain patches is necessary. These medications are expensive, but necessary to enable him to live with his disease on a daily basis.
Rehabilitation holidays that provide relief
Janusz also benefits from rehabilitation trips. Such trips help reduce pain and make daily life more comfortable. Some of these trips were made possible thanks to the support he received through the collection. The help he has received so far has allowed him to get to a place where he can continue to fight for every next step. Treatment is ongoing. Rehabilitation and painkillers continue to be a daily necessity, requiring ongoing funding. Any further support makes a real difference in improving his functioning. June 12, 2025

An accident that took away family and health

In 2000,Janusz was involved in a serious car accident that killed members of his immediate family. He himself suffered extensive injuries, including a fractured spine and both legs, which necessitated long-term hospitalization and multi-stage rehabilitation. The process of regaining partial mobility took months and required not only surgical treatment, but also intensive physiotherapy work.

Brain tumor and the diagnosis that changed priorities

Eight years after the accident, Janusz developed new neurological symptoms - persistent headaches, facial paresis and epileptic seizures, which worsened despite treatment. Imaging studies revealed the presence of a 3.5 × 3 cm brain tumor. Following surgery , the lesion was removed, and histopathological examination confirmed it to be a sclapoderma - a low-grade but malignant glioma (grade I-II).

Because of the risk of recurrence, the medical team then abandoned chemotherapy and radiotherapy, remaining with drug treatment and close oncological-neurological follow-up.

Increasing pain and disturbing changes in imaging

In 2014, the damaged spine, the result of a previous accident, began causing increasing pain that required neurosurgical intervention. Stabilization treatments brought only partial improvement, and chronic pain remained a constant part of daily life.

A biopsy confirmed the recurrence, and complications from the surgery exacerbated the neurological problems.

Six years later, during a follow-up examination, abnormalities appeared suggesting a possible recurrence of the cancer. In the following months, the cancerous lesion began to enlarge until it reached 5.5 × 5.5 cm in size in September 2021.

Skull trepanation and neurological complications

A biopsy requiring skull trepanation was performed to collect material for examination. The results confirmed the recurrence of the glioma, but the procedure itself ended with a complication in the form of left-sided full-body paresis, which significantly affected Janusz's independence and limited his ability to continue rehabilitation as before.

Intensive cancer therapy and deteriorating condition
In response to the progression of the disease, radiation therapy was started, and a one-year course of clinical chemotherapy was included in March 2022. Follow-up imaging studies indicated a positive response of the body to the therapy administered, so maintenance treatment and analgesic pharmacotherapy were implemented after its completion.

Janusz is currently under the constant care of doctors from several specialties - an oncologist, a neurologist, an orthopedist and a palliative medicine specialist. He continues to struggle with severe headaches and back pain, as well as worsening hemiparesis. It is also suspected that he has suffered a stroke in the meantime, which has further worsened his neurological condition.

Treatment and rehabilitation require continuity

The funds raised will be used for further treatment, continued neurological rehabilitation, private specialist consultations, supplementation and necessary medical and hygiene supplies. In the current situation, where treatment must be uninterrupted and its costs exceed the family's capabilities, any support has a real impact on Janusz's quality of life and the maintenance of the current treatment results.

Janusz has already been through a lot, but without Our support he will not be able to continue his treatment.
