Biopsy and Treatment
Kubuś has just undergone a biopsy, which has further weakened the left side of his body. His left hand, which once effortlessly grasped his favorite toys, now struggles to hold even a small object. Every movement requires tremendous effort. We already know that Kubuś has a long road ahead of him filled with regular rehabilitation sessions, which will be an integral part of his daily life. The hardest part, however, came with the biopsy results. They confirmed our worst fears: the tumor is malignant. It is located in the brainstem, which makes it impossible to remove surgically. Kubuś is bravely undergoing radiation therapy. Each passing day brings great hope that the treatment will have the desired effect. At the same time, we are waiting for the results of molecular tests, which may point the way forward for treatment and offer another chance. Our life has turned into a never-ending journey between Warsaw and Słupsk. Our suitcases are basically packed all the time, and our calendar is filled with visit dates instead of our usual family plans.Sister
However, this illness affects more than just Kubuś. His sister is also deeply affected by it. Seeing her beloved little brother suffer every day is an enormous burden for her. Fear and uncertainty have crept into her childlike world. She is starting psychological therapy to get support and learn how to cope with emotions that are too overwhelming for such a small heart. Thank you very much for your support! July 9, 2026

Unusual symptoms
Starting in mid-May, we began to notice some concerning symptoms in our little son, Kubuś. He started tilting his head to the left and drooling from the left corner of his mouth. This started happening more and more often.
We didn't know what was going on. Each new episode caused us greater and greater concern. We decided to consult our primary care physician. After listening to our observations, he didn't hesitate—he referred us to the hospital for further testing.
Biopsy
At the hospital, I had a CT scan of my head. The wait for the results seemed to go on forever. When the doctors returned with the results, the world stood still for a moment. The scan revealed a tumor in the cerebellar peduncles and pons on the right side.
Today I'm at home with Kubuś, and we're waiting for the next step. The biopsy should give us the answers we so desperately need. Every day is different now—it's as if time is passing more slowly, and yet too quickly at the same time.
Intense emotions
Our family life no longer followed its old rhythm; it had been replaced by a schedule of appointments, consultations, tests, and return visits to the hospital. Our plans were no longer certain, and our daily lives began to depend on what the next phone call or the doctors’ next decision would bring.
These days, it’s hard to cope with the emotions we’re feeling inside. A quiet, constant stress follows us even when we’re trying to go about our daily lives, and uncertainty keeps our minds from resting.
Our little daughter
In the midst of all this, there’s also our 7-year-old daughter, who is taking her younger brother’s illness very hard. She tries to be brave, but she can’t hide her fear and longing for the way things used to be.
We try to be a source of support for her, explain as much as we can, and at the same time protect her from a burden that shouldn't rest on her little shoulders.
Small Passions
When Kubuś has more energy, he returns to his little childhood rituals. He loves to paint. Sometimes he dances or sings, and in those moments, the house is once again filled with that sense of carefree joy that we need so much right now.
On quieter days, he does jigsaw puzzles, patiently fitting the pieces together one by one. He also enjoys hearing about dinosaurs, which have fascinated him for a long time. When he does, a look of curiosity and calm appears on his face, as if, for a moment, everything were back where it should be.
We need your support
Every day brings new challenges. When we look at Kubuś, we see tremendous strength in him, even though he’s still just a little boy who should be playing carefree, not fighting for his health.
We wholeheartedly ask for your support. Every bit of help gives us hope and brings Kubuś one step closer to a better tomorrow. Thank you for every kind thought, every share, and every act of support—they mean the world to us.
