Iga is only a few years old, yet she is already facing a reality that no child should ever have to experience. Not long ago, her world was filled with dancing, riding her scooter, and playing with other children. Today, she spends most of her time in a hospital room, far from home, school, and her peers. Instead of a carefree childhood, she now faces pain, fear, and exhausting treatment.

The illness came on suddenly

It all began on April 16, 2026. At first, the symptoms resembled those of an infection: a fever, swollen tonsils, and swollen, red gums. No one suspected at the time that these symptoms were a sign of a serious cancer. Further testing revealed a devastating diagnosis: acute myeloid leukemia (AML).

Iga has been in the hospital since April 17. Her daily life has changed completely. Her hospital bed has replaced the playground, and a series of tests and treatments have become part of the little girl’s life.

Very difficult treatment

Iga has already completed her first cycle of aggressive chemotherapy and received three doses of Mylotarg. From the very beginning, the treatment has been extremely taxing on her body. She has developed very painful complications: inflammation of the mouth, esophagus, and intestines. Every day is a struggle against pain, severe weakness, and the side effects of intensive treatment.

Iga still has many months of treatment ahead of her. Doctors estimate that she will need about six months of intensive therapy, and eventually she will also be waiting for a bone marrow transplant. It is a long and very difficult journey that Iga must undertake at an age when children should be exploring the world, playing, and feeling safe.

A loneliness that no child should have to experience

The prolonged hospitalization and isolation have taken a heavy toll on Iga’s mental health. She is unable to go to school, see her peers, or take part in normal childhood activities. She is becoming increasingly withdrawn. Her parents can see how difficult it is for her to regain her former joy and sense of security. Every day brings fear of treatment, homesickness, and immense stress.

Iga is mainly cared for by her mother on a daily basis, with her father stepping in whenever possible. However, the illness has affected the entire family. Iga’s older siblings are also going through a very difficult time. Her brother, who is studying in another city, and her 17-year-old sister struggle every day with fear for their beloved sister’s health. The illness has robbed the family of their peace of mind, sense of security, and normal daily life.

I just want to be a kid again

Before her illness, Iga loved art class, riding her scooter, and dancing. Today, it is these little passions that remind her loved ones of what life was like before her diagnosis. The funds raised will help cover the costs of transportation, psychological support, and daily expenses related to her long-term treatment and hospital stay. Please support Iga and her family. Every contribution gives this little girl a chance to get through her treatment more safely and, one day, return to a world of childhood joy, play, and dreams.
