Unusual behavior
Last December, our son Franek, who had always been full of energy and childlike joy, began to change. He became apathetic and withdrawn. We also noticed something that really worried us: one of his eyes started to wander, and he was tilting his head unnaturally more and more often.
We sensed that something was wrong. We went to see a doctor right away. After examining Frank, the doctor immediately took the situation very seriously. At that point, we didn’t yet know that the most difficult chapter of our lives was about to begin.
Our Son's Diagnosis
The days that followed were marked by uncertainty, fear, and endless tests. Everything happened very quickly. Each subsequent visit brought more questions than answers, and we waited with bated breath for the results.
An imaging test revealed an alarming lesion in our son’s head. At the end of December, Franek underwent a tumor biopsy. We didn’t have to wait long for the results: stage IV diffuse brainstem glioma.
First Success and Side Effects
Today, Franek has completed his first round of radiation therapy. This has given us a glimmer of hope: the tumor has shrunk.
However, the illness and treatment took a toll on his little body. Franek gets tired quickly and sometimes complains of a headache. After three long months in the hospital, we returned home.
Franek is also participating in a clinical trial. Any chance that might help our son is priceless to us.
Franio and Staś
Our family is currently caught between hope and fear. We also have an older son, 6-year-old Staś, who is also battling an illness. The boys are very close. They’re best friends who love to play together, laugh, and spend time together.
Big Dreams
Franek also has a big dream. When he grows up, he’d like to become a police officer. He’s fascinated by police cars, uniforms, and everything related to helping others. He also loves playing with toy cars and spending hours making up his own stories.
He's just a little boy who should be thinking about playing and making his dreams come true, not about more tests, hospitals, and treatments.
Please support
Because of my two sons' health, I had to quit my job so I could be with them every day.
We have received information about a medication available abroad that could help slow the progression of Frank’s illness. Unfortunately, the costs are enormous and beyond our means.
We are asking for your help with all our hearts. Every bit of support brings us closer to our goal of continuing our son’s treatment.
