Alarming results

The bruises under Blanka's eyes, which appeared in the spring of 2025, immediately caused her mother concern. There was no time to wait and see or calm the situation down. There was a quick response and immediate action.

The blood tests performed at the clinic proved alarming. On Friday, her platelet count was still 126,000, but by Monday it had fallen to around 25,000. The doctor did not hesitate for a moment and urgently referred Blanka to the hematology ward in Kielce, where a full diagnosis was begun.

The result only added to the drama. Ninety-eight percent of the child's bone marrow was occupied by blasts. The diagnosis was clear, devastating, and left no time or space to come to terms with the fear.

Urgent treatment

Treatment for acute T-cell lymphoblastic leukemia began immediately. Blanka underwent two chemotherapy regimens, but they did not bring any improvement. The lack of response to treatment was a blow in itself.

The situation was further complicated by sepsis. Suddenly, her tiny body had to fight not only cancer, but also a severe infection, which instantly put Blanka's life in immediate danger. For her parents, it was a moment when fear crossed the line into paralyzing dread.

Treatment, complications, and transplantation

Another round of chemotherapy, this time using Vincristine, caused serious complications. Muscle damage occurred and Blanka stopped walking. Intensive high-risk blocks were then implemented, but they also failed to produce the desired effect. Radiotherapy became necessary.

Ultimately, doctors decided to perform a bone marrow transplant, which took place on December 5, 2025, despite the presence of positive residual disease. After the transplant, Blanka stopped eating. It was necessary to implement parenteral nutrition. Problems with oxygen saturation arose. Each subsequent day was a struggle for stability.

The painful wait for "what next"

Today, Blanka is at a point where it is difficult to say the word "better" out loud, although the first signs of improvement are visible. The girl has started to eat on her own, and her results have improved. Steroid treatment has been introduced.

However, this is accompanied by enormous fear. Parents are waiting for crucial tests that will show whether residual disease is still present. The further treatment plan and the direction in which the next stage of the fight will take depends on this answer.

Blanka still cannot walk and struggles with high blood pressure. She is staying in hospital, in sterile conditions that have cut her off from a normal childhood for months.

A family trapped in hospital routine

For eight months, this family has been living away from home, which has become an almost unreal place. Blanka is brave, but she misses her room, her toys, and her normal life. She rebels against taking more pills, as if she hopes it will bring her closer to returning home, which she asks about almost every day.

Please help

Blanka's treatment is long, complicated, and full of uncertainty. We don't know if it is coming to an end. We don't know what the coming months will bring. We know one thing. This little girl and her family should not have to go through this alone.

The hospital has become her world. Home is still a dream.
