A Diagnosis Masked by Pneumonia
In December 2017, Bartłomiej was admitted to a hospital in Skierniewice with suspected pneumonia. Despite treatment, there was no improvement after two weeks, so he was referred to Łódź. It was there that he first learned he was seriously ill and was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma. He began chemotherapy, and the cancer initially responded well. Bartłomiej was full of hope that the nightmare was over, and he returned to work, to his life, and to his family.
A disease that keeps coming back
Unfortunately, just three months later, he felt lumps in his lymph nodes, and a PET scan confirmed a relapse. Bartłomiej has been fighting nonstop ever since. He has undergone countless cycles of chemotherapy, an autologous transplant, and immunotherapy, but the cancer still wouldn’t let up. Later, he received another transplant, this time from his sister, and the disease recurred once again. The search for an unrelated donor is currently underway, and Bartłomiej continues his treatment, traveling to Gliwice every week for tests and chemotherapy.
Two fights under one roof
What is already a huge burden in itself has become even more difficult this year. Bartłomiej’s wife was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, which has made the family’s situation extremely complicated. Two illnesses under one roof mean not only a double struggle for health, but also a huge burden, including a financial one. Bartłomiej’s greatest concern remains ensuring a decent life for his family despite his own poor health.
Hobbies That Remind Us of Normal Life
Bartłomiej is a huge soccer fan—he collects soccer jerseys, and in his free time he likes to take photos. It is these passions that remind him of the ordinary life he wants so badly to return to.
Let's help Bartłomiej keep fighting
The funds raised will go toward transportation for medical treatment, psychological care, dietary supplements, and healthy food. Every donation provides real support for Bartłomiej at a time when his family is facing the illness on two fronts at once. After years of relentless struggle, he deserves not to have to bear this burden alone. Let’s help him keep going—for himself and for his loved ones, who need him today just as much as he needs them.
