An illness that began years ago
The first symptoms appeared in late 2008—severe bleeding episodes that caused Anna to lose consciousness. She was diagnosed at a hospital in Szczecin, where she began treatment, including brachytherapy, at the end of the year. After an intensive period of treatment, the disease was brought under control, and Anna was able to return to her normal life.
Setbacks that forced us to start over
Unfortunately, in 2022, tests revealed a recurrence of the disease. Anna underwent ten cycles of chemotherapy at that time, but the treatment was associated with very severe side effects that prevented her from continuing therapy in this form. Toward the end of 2025, there was suspicion of another recurrence, which was confirmed by surgery. Since February 2026, Anna has been undergoing immunotherapy, which is gentler and more effective for her than the previous chemotherapy. She will continue taking the medication for as long as her body allows.
A daily life marked by pain
Years of treatment have taken a lasting toll on Anna’s health. She is struggling with neuropathy, a complication of chemotherapy that makes walking extremely difficult for her. For the past two years, she has been able to get around on her own without a wheelchair, but every step can be a challenge. In addition, she has had psoriasis since the onset of her illness, and it has worsened significantly during her current treatment. Even the simplest tasks, such as going shopping or getting to the doctor’s office, now require a great deal of effort, and Anna often has to take a taxi to the hospital.
The battle she is fighting almost entirely on her own
Anna lives with a friend, with whom she shares a house; she has virtually no contact with her own family—only her children get in touch from time to time. She lives solely on her disability benefits, so renting her own apartment closer to doctors and stores remains out of her reach for now. Despite this difficult situation, Anna doesn’t give up and tries to cope as best she can every day.
Hobbies she'd like to take up again
Anna completed a nail styling course and would very much like to pursue a career in this field; unfortunately, neuropathy prevents her from continuing to pursue this passion. She also enjoys cooking and baking various cakes. It is these activities that bring her joy and a sense that she is creating something of her own, despite all the challenges.
Let's help Ania keep going
The funds raised will go toward medication, transportation to medical appointments, and rehabilitation, which will allow Ania to regain at least some of her mobility. Every donation provides her with real relief and a chance to focus on what matters most: her treatment and the daily, arduous process of regaining her independence. After fifteen years of struggle, Anna deserves not to have to face this alone. Let’s not leave her on her own.
