The illness did not come on suddenly.
The first signs were ambiguous and easy to ignore. Night sweats, increasing fatigue, weakness. Symptoms that Aneta attributed to hormonal changes, part of a natural stage of life. Nothing indicated that a mammogram in June 2024 would change her reality in a permanent and irreversible way.
The diagnosis of breast cancer in my right breast was not just a medical announcement. It was a moment when the future lost its predictability, and everyday life began to revolve around treatment appointments, test results, and subsequent decisions.
The treatment remains in the body for a long time
In May 2025 , Aneta underwent oncoplastic breast-conserving surgery, followed by an intensive phase of systemic treatment. Twelve cycles of induction chemotherapy, then four cycles of red chemotherapy, followed by radiotherapy covering the lymph nodes.
Each of these stages was a separate physical and mental effort. Although the therapy has come to an end, its effects have not disappeared. Aneta has been placed on long-term hormone treatment and CDK4/6 inhibitor therapy, which is intended to protect against recurrence of the disease, but at the same time places a constant strain on the body.
The body speaks its own language after treatment
Chemotherapy and radiotherapy left consequences that Aneta faces every day. Her deteriorating eyesight required specialist ophthalmological treatment in Warsaw and constant monitoring. Added to this were degenerative changes and severe pain in her feet, which make it difficult for her to move around and prevent her from performing even the simplest tasks.
This is no longer a time to "return to normal." It is a time to learn to live in a new, more fragile body that does not always allow you to plan even the next day.
Independence put to the test
Aneta lives with her son, who is still studying. She is divorced and currently lives on rehabilitation benefits, which are significantly lower than her previous salary. Regular trips to the University Clinical Center in Gdańsk have become an integral part of her life, generating costs that are increasingly difficult to reconcile with her daily needs.
At the same time, Aneta is receiving psychological support. Cancer treatment does not end when you are discharged from the ward. The fear of recurrence, responsibility for the child, and financial uncertainty are burdens that are difficult to bear alone.
This assistance is needed
Aneta is not asking for support to "return to her old life." She knows that it has already changed. She is asking for help that will allow her to safely undergo further treatment, take care of her rehabilitation, mental health, and basic stability at a time when her body is still recovering.
This is a fundraiser for a woman who never stopped fighting. Today , she continues her battle quietly, in her daily struggle for fitness, peace of mind, and the opportunity to live without constant fear.
