Bruises that did not disappear

The first tiny bruises on her legs and hands, which appeared out of nowhere, were noticed by the girl's grandmother. One glance by a doctor in Strzelin was enough to make the decision to refer the girl to "Cape of Hope". He just knew... In Wroclaw, tests were performed that ended all speculation and took away the grandmother's last spark of hope that it was just something temporary. Acute lymphoblastic leukemia. The diagnosis forced immediate action.

Hospital instead of home

Since July 2023, Susie has lived with her grandmother in a hospital room where every object has its place and every sound is a reminder that this is not home.
Each day brings new medications, more tests and more infusions, in between which there are brief moments of hope that maybe this time the results will turn out at least a little better.
Sometimes they actually do get better, allowing us to believe that the worst is slowly passing, but often there comes a moment when the body can't stand it, forcing an immediate return to the ward.
That's what happened in September, when, after just two days out of the clinic, Susie found herself back in a hospital bed. Her weakened body could not cope with even such a short breath of freedom.

Daily support needed

What Susie needs today is not only the treatment that saves her life, but also a space in which she can slowly recover - a space created by her grandmother, who gave up all her previous life to be by her side every minute. She needs medication and daily, caring care that will give her body a chance to recover. Financial support is also needed for constant travel to medical facilities.
