Update
New decisions
Robert is still undergoing chemotherapy. However, the doctors are considering changing the way it is administered. There is now an opportunity to introduce targeted therapy in tablet form, which could alter the course of treatment. Further signs of the body’s fight for survival began to appear on his body. The rash on my chest and back serves as a reminder that every dose of treatment leaves its mark. The skin has become the place where the visible history of the treatment is recorded.![]()
Every step requires strength
On top of that, there are heart problems, which put additional strain on Robert's body. Even simple breathing can be a struggle. The weakness is becoming increasingly noticeable. A CT scan is scheduled for mid-April. This test will allow the doctors to assess the situation more accurately and make further decisions regarding treatment. For Robert and his loved ones, this is a moment filled with tension, but also with hope.Mental health support
It is also becoming increasingly clear how Mental health support is greatly needed. In the face of illness, pain, and uncertainty Professional help is essential to regaining at least some inner peace and strength needed to continue the fight. March 31, 2026

The symptoms could not wait.
The first sign was alarming bleeding from the lower gastrointestinal tract, which appeared in February 2024 and immediately triggered diagnostic tests. The tests left no doubt. A malignant tumor of the sigmoid-rectal junction was diagnosed. In June, Robert underwent laparoscopic anterior resection, followed by a long and grueling course of systemic treatment.
The chemotherapy lasted for months. It was exhausting and left its mark on his body, but it brought hope that this stage of his life would soon be over. Just when he began to believe that the worst was behind him, he received news that the cancer had returned. In an instant, the fear and helplessness returned, along with the realization that the road ahead would be even more difficult than before. Everything had to start all over again.
Treatment leaves a mark
Robert has undergone twelve cycles of chemotherapy and a PET scan. Doctors are currently planning another twelve cycles of treatment to halt the progression of the disease. However, the therapy has had serious consequences. Polyneuropathy has made everyday functioning much more difficult, and fatigue is no longer a temporary condition.
At the same time, Robert is struggling with serious comorbidities. Coronary artery disease, heart failure after a heart attack and bypass surgery, gout, and a history of coronary angioplasty put additional strain on his body, which is already working at the limits of its endurance.
Everyday life after losing stability
Robert is currently at home. The termination of his employment contract deprived him of professional stability, and his treatment made planning for the future extremely difficult. Every day is a struggle to maintain a balance between appointments, medication, weakness, and the need to rebuild his strength.
The biggest challenge, as he himself says, is to "keep your head up." This is not always easy when your body reminds you of your illness with every movement and your thoughts constantly revolve around the next stages of treatment.
Support needed
Robert needs help to get through further treatment with as much support as possible. Rehabilitation, psychological care, and medication are essential elements without which it is difficult to talk about a real return to balance and fitness.
This fundraiser is intended to enable him to continue his treatment, but also to regain the strength he needs to function on a daily basis. It is support for a man who, despite the recurrence of his illness and numerous burdens, continues to fight and tries to move forward, step by step.
