Sepsis and treatment interruption - we are increasing the amount in the collection
Olive is in the midst of her third and final chemotherapy protocol. In recent weeks, her health has deteriorated significantly. The body, weakened by long-term treatment, again faced sepsis, the third in the course of all cancer therapy. Thanks to the quick response, doctors septic shock was successfully controlled, However, its consequences are very serious. It was necessary to remove the central puncture (port), through which drugs and chemotherapy have so far been administered. Olive's current state of health does not yet allow a new port to be reimplanted, which significantly hinders further treatment. If her body copes with the infection and test results improve, doctors will be able to resume chemotherapy through a femoral puncture. This method, while necessary, carries a risk of thrombosis and requires replacement of the puncture every four weeks under general anesthesia. This is a very difficult time, full of uncertainty, fatigue and worry. Every support, every good thought and every donated help is desperately needed for Olivia today. October 17, 2025
Explore the history of
When the world stops
It started innocently - with leg pain. An ordinary ailment that over time ceased to be ordinary. When Olivka was admitted to the hospital, none of her loved ones imagined that in a moment they would hear a diagnosis that would change their lives forever: acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
From that moment on, everything goes on as in a bad dream. Tests, isolation, infusions, with no respite to tame the fear. Paralysis - this is how one can describe what the family of a four-year-old girl feels.
Solitude within white walls
For Olivka, the word "treatment" means loneliness in a sterile room, no visitors and constant longing. Her mother does not leave her even for a step, but the girl repeats every day that she wants to go home. She misses her brother, the smell of her favorite bedding, the moments that used to be everyday life.
The daily struggle for each day
Chemotherapy is just the beginning of a long and grueling process. Every day is a new challenge. For Olivka's body, it is a struggle for survival. For her family, it's organizing life anew and getting the resources for everything the system doesn't provide: travel to the hospital, diet, supportive medications, hygiene products and rehabilitation.
