From nausea to diagnosis
Toward the end of 2024 , Nadia began to experience persistent nausea that grew worse with each passing day, to the point where she was unable to eat anything. At first, there were no signs of a serious problem. Her blood tests and tests for parasites showed no abnormalities, providing a temporary sense of relief.
The next step was an abdominal ultrasound, which was quite nerve-wracking. It was then that the doctor, in silence, paused upon noticing something that required further testing: a cyst on the left ovary.
This observation prompted further diagnostic testing. Tests for tumor markers were ordered. The results left no room for doubt. The tumor was 3 cm in size.
The tumor grew at an alarming rate
Nadia underwent three months of hormone therapy. Over time , her condition began to deteriorate noticeably. Concerned , the doctor decided to urgently refer her for another abdominal ultrasound. It was a tense time for Nadia and her mother. The test results brought more troubling news: the tumor had grown significantly, reaching a size of 13 cm.
A decision was made that would change everything. The operation. The minutes dragged on endlessly, and each one was a struggle between fear and the belief that everything would be all right.
Silence after diagnosis
The results of the histopathological tests, which they had been anxiously awaiting, revealed the full extent of the situation. It turned out that the removed tumor was a malignant growth that had already metastasized to the other ovary, which was benign. Metastases were also found in the lymph nodes and ribs.
The moment they learned the diagnosis was, for Nadia and her mother, a time filled with emotion, silence, and attempts to come to terms with their new reality.
Today , Nadia continues her treatment at Przylądek Nadziei in Wrocław, where successive rounds of chemotherapy set the pace of her daily life. Her days there alternate between hope and exhaustion, between conversations with doctors and moments of silence.
The two of us against the disease
Her mother is always by her side. She’s there for her through every difficult moment. Caring for her daughter has become her top priority, and she’s had to quit her job. She’s now focusing all her attention and energy on one thing: fighting for Nadia’s health.
In this reality, there is also a void that is hard to fill. Contact with their dad is rare. This means that the two of them must learn to navigate a world that has quickly become a place full of uncertainty, but also of quiet and steadfast hope.

Not long ago, Nadia’s daily life was filled with simple but meaningful things. Music could lift her spirits in an instant. She often picked up a pencil to write down song lyrics or draw. Her curiosity about the world found an outlet in learning foreign languages.
Today, Nadia’s world has shrunk considerably. Day after day, she undergoes more tests. Her daily life now takes place in the hospital: between the ward, the hallway, and the doctors’ offices.
