Explore the history of
A strange sense of helplessness
At the beginning of the year, Mirosława began to notice that something in her daily life was no longer coming naturally to her. She often felt drained; every step required more effort than usual. Then severe headaches set in, completely different from any she had experienced before. Her memory began to fail her at the most unexpected moments. On top of that, she felt an overwhelming sense of emptiness and a lack of meaning in life. She felt sad every day. Things got worse day by day, and she couldn’t rationally explain this change. When the symptoms began to intensify, she decided to see a doctor. Neurological tests left no room for doubt. The diagnosis was clear: malignant brain glioma.
Operation
In early March, Mirosława underwent surgery to remove the tumor, which was successful, and many of her previous symptoms subsided almost immediately. However, her body is still recovering. After the surgery, she began experiencing hand tremors and problems with the leg on the side where the tumor had been. This is a stage in which the body is slowly learning to function again.

Upcoming challenges
Mirosława faces radiation therapy and a long rehabilitation process designed to help her regain the use of her hand and improve her daily functioning. She is currently staying at a shelter for victims of domestic violence, where she receives basic medical care. A nurse visits her daily to administer the necessary medications. She will soon move in with her sister, who will help her with her daily activities.
Life after diagnosis
The illness has changed the way she views many things. What used to be normal has now taken on immense value. She finds joy and peace in simple moments. The quiet of the morning, the singing of birds, or in the books that have always been close to her heart. Her greatest fear remains the question of the future and her ability to support herself. The costs of treatment, medication, and rehabilitation are a major challenge.
