The diagnosis that came suddenly
The first worrying symptoms appeared in late September 2025. Michalina began vomiting, and subsequent hospital visits failed to determine the cause of her deteriorating condition. By the end of October, the situation had become very serious. The girl no longer wanted to walk, she was losing her balance, and her head was constantly tilting to the right. On October 31, a CT scan was performed, which revealed the worst-case scenario: a brain tumor. Michalina was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor—medulloblastoma, a classic subtype belonging to molecular group 3.
A long and grueling battle
On November 3, 2025, Michalina underwent a complex brain tumor removal surgery that lasted over six hours. After the procedure, she was admitted to the intensive care unit. Two days later, she stopped speaking. She developed posterior fossa syndrome, one of the most severe complications following brain tumor surgery in children. Intensive rehabilitation began, along with another battle—this time to regain lost functions. Michalina has already undergone four cycles of chemotherapy, radiation therapy of the entire central nervous system, and subsequent stages of maintenance therapy. Unfortunately, this is not the end yet. She still has seven more cycles of chemotherapy ahead of her, and the entire treatment will last about eighteen months.
Everyday life subordinated to treatment
Frequent trips to the Children’s Health Center in Warsaw have become an integral part of the whole family’s life. The parents try to be with their daughter together so that she feels safe during her hospital stays and subsequent tests. However, every stay in the hospital means being separated from their other two children, who are left in the care of their grandparents and close relatives. Michalina’s illness has affected the entire family’s daily life, with everything revolving around her treatment, organizing trips, and fighting for their daughter’s health.
Financial difficulties add to the burden. Currently, only the father is working, as the mother had to quit her job to care for Michalina full-time.
Let’s help Michalina get her childhood back
The funds raised will go toward medical expenses, non-reimbursable medications, rehabilitation, frequent trips to the Children’s Health Center, therapy-related stays, and psychological care for Michalina and her loved ones. Every donation provides real support in the fight for the girl’s health and gives her a chance to return, once her treatment is complete, to what she loves most today—carefree play, exploring the world, and a normal childhood.
