March 2025
We received our son Michał’s diagnosis in March 2025. At that moment, a few words spoken by the doctor made time stand still: Ewing’s sarcoma.
In an instant, the world we knew came crashing down. Fear and disbelief set in, along with a question that remains difficult to answer to this day: Why our son?
Treatment and surgery
Intensive treatment began. Chemotherapy and radiation therapy were introduced. More hospital stays, tests, and constant uncertainty. Each cycle of treatment sapped our son’s strength.
Unfortunately, the cancer has also metastasized to the lungs and brain.
In December 2025, he underwent major surgery: a right lung thoracotomy, during which as many as 11 lesions were removed. A few months later, in February 2026, he required a craniotomy and the removal of a brain tumor. Just when it seemed he had already been through so much, the disease would not let up.
Next steps
In May of this year, Michał underwent another extremely difficult surgery: the removal of his ankle joint and the implantation of a prosthesis. He had to relearn how to function, while coping with pain and limitations that are particularly difficult for a teenager.
Unfortunately, just a month later, another blow struck. In June, the doctors were forced to perform another craniotomy to remove a second brain tumor.
Living in Fear
Everyday life looks different today than it used to. We try to balance our work responsibilities with caring for our son, but the reality of his illness doesn’t recognize work hours or time for rest. We live in a constant state of tension. Every phone call, every test, and every doctor’s appointment brings a flood of emotions.
But that’s not the end of our struggles. Michał’s mother is also battling cancer. In an instant, our lives have been consumed by two difficult battles that are being fought side by side.
Sister and brother
And then there’s Natasza, Michał’s sister. She sees her brother’s suffering, watches her mother’s struggle, and goes through it all with us. She tries to be brave, but it’s hard to come to terms with the fact that her childhood is marked by fear for her loved ones.
Small Passions
Like many teenagers, Michał has his own passions and dreams. He loves listening to American rap, is interested in cars, and is fascinated by the world of minerals. It is these interests that allow him to forget about his illness, at least for a moment, and give him the strength to keep fighting.
Please support
The funds raised will help us cover the costs of non-reimbursable medications, essential rehabilitation, transportation to medical appointments, psychological support, and adapting living conditions to the needs of people with disabilities.
We wholeheartedly ask for your support for our fundraiser. Every bit of help and every kind word means the world to us. Thanks to your help, we’ll be able to focus on what matters most right now: our son Michał’s treatment, his recovery, and the fight for his health.
