Update

Michal is already a joyful 12-year-old who has been struggling with the disease practically since birth. Due to the disease, Michal has one-on-one instruction at home and is not allowed to go to school. He systematically travels with his parents to the Cape every 45 days to the day ward for check-ups. Further treatment will depend on his health and bone marrow results. Since being diagnosed in 2015, Michal has constantly had to take oral medication. January 9, 2025

Explore the history of

Most likely, the disease has been with him since birth.

But a proper diagnosis was not made until 2015. Before the disease was diagnosed, Michael often had various infections, caught colds easily and had a very weak immune system.

Spontaneous hyperplasia is a disease of the bone marrow. It is characterized by significantly increased production of platelets, which in addition can malfunction. The cause of this disease is not known. It is believed that an uncontrolled production of too many platelets occurs due to a mutation in the bone marrow stem cell. This excessive amount of platelets causes a strain on the entire body (the blood is simply too thick). Since being diagnosed in 2015, Michael has been taking an oral medication. It is changed for various reasons.
