The Burden of Helplessness
Unfortunately, the recent oncology consultation did not bring good news. Marta’s blood test results have worsened again. Treatment has had to be put on hold for the time being, and further decisions can only be made after a consultation with a hematologist and additional diagnostic tests. It's a difficult time of waiting
A time when many questions arise about what the coming days will bring. Amid this uncertainty, there is fear and a sense of helplessness, but hope remains. Quiet, steadfast, and unwavering. There are times when every day feels heavier than usual, and the weight of it is felt particularly keenly. We kindly ask for your continued support for Marta. Treatment on hold
In the near future Marta is scheduled to undergo a colonoscopy to monitor her autoimmune bowel disease following immunotherapy. At the same time, there is an ongoing battle for further cancer treatment. Due to the cardiovascular system’s response, it was necessary to switch to a less intensive form of chemotherapy. Marta's body is already exhausted, her blood test results are very poor, and neutropenia has brought her treatment to a standstill.![]()
Waiting for the green light
Today, Marta is focusing on regaining her strength and gradually stabilizing her body. Every day is a challenge as she tries to resume treatment, which must be put on hold for now. This is a time of waiting and recovery, with the hope that her body will allow her to continue therapy again. March 23, 2026

Treatment that took away strength and independence
Marta is undergoing treatment in Katowice. Her illness began in May 2025, when she felt a lump in her left breast during a self-examination. Tests confirmed the diagnosis: invasive triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), grade G2. It was a moment that completely changed her life.
In October 2025, Marta began intensive preoperative treatment, namely chemotherapy combined with immunotherapy. The plan was for 12 weeks of treatment, but after only four weeks, the therapy had to be discontinued. Her body reacted very badly to the immunotherapy. Serious autoimmune complications arose, requiring hospitalization and long-term treatment. She was diagnosed with non-infectious inflammation of the stomach, small intestine, and colon. Since then, Marta has been struggling with chronic digestive problems that significantly limit her daily functioning.
Life-saving surgery
On January 14, 2026, Marta underwent a total mastectomy of her left breast, along with removal of the sentinel node, at the Katowice Clinical Hospital on Ceglana Street. The operation was necessary to stop the progression of the disease. However, the treatment did not end the fight, as the body continues to deal with the effects of previous therapies.
Marta consciously decided against reconstruction of her removed breast due to the high risk of complications and renewed autoimmune reactions.
In the future, she would like to undergo a mastectomy of her other breast to achieve symmetry and avoid having to wear a prosthesis. The cost of such a procedure is approximately PLN 15,000–20,000, depending on the facility.
This decision is dictated by concern for health and safety, but it brings with it further financial and psychological burdens.
Family close by, but with restrictions
Marta's daughter lives abroad and tries to visit as often as possible. However, she herself is disabled following a car accident and also takes care of her young daughter. Her help, though heartfelt, is very limited. Due to her illness, Marta has been certified as having a significant degree of disability and is unable to live independently.
Before her illness, Marta was renovating an apartment she had bought on credit with the intention of renting it out. The property had been damaged by the previous tenants, and her illness made it completely impossible to continue the work. This is an additional financial and psychological burden. The biggest daily challenge became leaving the house, getting to treatment, and coping with basic everyday tasks.
The funds raised will be used for: transportation to treatment and tests, non-refundable medications and supplements, additional tests and consultations, and ongoing expenses related to treatment and recovery. Every contribution is a real help and an opportunity for Marta to undergo further stages of treatment with a greater sense of security and dignity.
