Update
Three rounds of chemotherapy for Małgorzata
Małgorzata has now completed three rounds of chemotherapy. Each of them shows just how taxing this treatment is on the body. After her first round of chemotherapy, she was very weak, but after a few days she gradually regained her strength. Unfortunately With each subsequent cycle, the side effects become increasingly noticeable and last much longer.Małgorzata is currently struggling with pain in her hands and very severe pain in her legs, which makes it difficult for her to move around. An additional burden is the loss of taste and lack of appetite...which make it much harder to recover.
The next steps in Małgorzata's treatment
The next round of chemotherapy was scheduled just before the holidays. These are always very difficult days, because the first few moments after receiving the medication are accompanied by severe side effects, such as vomiting and diarrhea. The family was hoping that this time Małgorzata’s body would get through this stage of treatment a little more easily.Waiting for the results
At the same time, everyone is waiting for the results of the second biopsy. These results will help the doctors decide on the next steps regarding surgical treatment. At this point No final decision has yet been made as to whether it will be possible to simply remove the tumor or whether a complete mastectomy will be necessary. The family is waiting hopefully for further updates from the doctors and believes that continued treatment will bring good news. April 8, 2026

When one disease is not enough
Małgorzata is undergoing treatment at the National Institute of Oncology in Gliwice and at the Upper Silesian Medical Center in Katowice-Ochojec. Her life has been marked by a struggle for health for years, but in the fall of 2025, she received another diagnosis, which came as a huge blow.
In May 2025, Małgorzata had a mammogram. The result was normal, with no changes detected. A few months later, in September, during a breast self-examination, she felt a lump in her right breast. A quick response and an ultrasound examination confirmed her fears.
On October 29, 2025, a decision was made to perform a biopsy, which confirmed the diagnosis: right breast cancer (C50.9 – malignant neoplasm of the breast).
The treatment is just beginning.
In November 2025, a biopsy was performed, and on January 27, 2026, a vascular port was inserted. On January 29, 2026, Małgorzata began chemotherapy.
The treatment plan involves six cycles of chemotherapy, followed by a probable breast resection. CT scans have also revealed another tumor in the same breast, closer to the lymph nodes. Małgorzata is currently awaiting another biopsy, which will determine the next steps in her treatment.
Fighting on two fronts
Małgorzata has been suffering from multiple sclerosis since February 2018. Every month, she receives intravenous infusions, after which she is completely unable to function normally for several days. Currently, her MS treatment has been reduced to a minimum so that her body can fight cancer.
Dealing with breast cancer and multiple sclerosis at the same time is a huge physical and mental burden. Małgorzata openly says that this situation forced her to seek psychological help.
The family as the greatest force
Małgorzata is a mother of three adult children and a grandmother of six grandchildren: Agata, Pola, Karolinka, Antosia, Jakub, and the youngest, Wojtuś. It is her grandchildren who motivate her to get out of bed and keep fighting. She lives alone, as her husband works in Germany and is only home occasionally.
Her children accompany her to doctor's appointments and tests. Without their help, she would not be able to travel to consultations, conferences, and treatment. Each such visit means that they have to take time off work.
In addition , Małgorzata has two older sisters who have also had cancer: breast cancer and stomach cancer. Today, they support each other, understanding better than anyone else what this struggle is like.
Daily challenges
The biggest challenge today is not to give up mentally and to have the strength to fight on two fronts at the same time. Małgorzata has one dream: that neither disease will defeat her.
