Spring 2022
It started with severe back pain. It became more and more bothersome with each passing day. I had trouble walking normally and had trouble controlling my bladder. I knew something was wrong. I went to the doctor, hoping he would find the cause and help me. However, he told me there was no cause for concern.
Months went by. When I started bleeding, I went to see my gynecologist. An ultrasound and a Pap test were supposed to put my mind at ease. But instead of relief, I felt fear.
Diagnosis
First, I heard the diagnosis: cervical dysplasia. Then came weeks filled with fear, uncertainty, and waiting for more test results. In February, I heard the words everyone fears: cervical cancer.
It's hard to describe how I felt at that moment. Fear mingled with disbelief, and more and more questions kept popping into my head. All I knew was that from that moment on, my life would never be the same.
Difficult treatment
The tumor was inoperable. I began radio-chemotherapy in the hope that it would halt the disease. Unfortunately, the treatment took a heavy toll on my body. I developed severe anemia requiring blood transfusions, a vitamin D3 deficiency, and other side effects.
I also underwent four brachytherapy treatments. Every day was a struggle—not only against the cancer, but also against the debilitating effects of the treatment. I’ve also been dealing with bronchial and allergic asthma for years, which is why my body has even less strength to face all these challenges.
Enormous support
Today I live in Karpacz with my daughter, son, and partner. They are my greatest source of support. I see how much they care every day, and I know they’re going through this illness with me. It’s for them that I’m fighting, and I won’t let myself lose hope.
Not long ago, I loved to dance. I loved going on trips, discovering new places, and simply spending my time being active. My illness took all of that away from me. Today, I often don’t even have the strength for the simplest daily activities.
I need some help
Unfortunately, this illness has robbed me not only of my health and peace of mind, but also of my sense of financial security. The costs associated with my treatment are enormous. Our family is doing everything we can, but we are unable to bear such a heavy burden on our own, which is why I am asking for your help with all my heart.
Every donation, every time someone shares my story, and every kind word not only gives me support, but also hope that I’m not alone in this fight.
Thank you for all the kindness you've shown me and for being there for me.
