I received the diagnosis right after my brain tumor resection surgery. I got the histopathology results. A malignant brain tumor located in the frontal lobe. In that single moment, everything fell apart into tiny pieces.
I remember the silence that followed those words. The kind of silence that isn’t peaceful, but rather a burden. As if someone had muted the world for a moment, leaving only me and that one sentence, which refused to stop echoing in my head.
Further treatment
Today I’m waiting for an MRI. The results will determine the next step, the treatment plan, and the path forward. After the exam, the oncologist will decide what to do next, what my battle will look like, and what the next stages will be.
In addition, I am also dealing with other medical conditions. These include: hypertension, peptic ulcer disease, acute pneumonia, and respiratory failure.
Loneliness
Today I’m at home. I’m not working. My days no longer follow the rhythms they used to, the ones that gave them meaning and structure. The loneliness is also hard to bear. That everyday, quiet kind of loneliness. When you have to face your thoughts, fears, and uncertainties all on your own. When there’s no one there to take the weight off your shoulders, even for a moment.
Small Activities
Before I got sick, I was very active. What I loved most was riding my bike. That moment when I could just hop on and ride off into the distance. The wind, my breath, the feeling of freedom. It was something that lifted my spirits and gave me strength.
Today, that version of myself is somewhere in the background. It hasn’t disappeared, but it’s as if it had to make room for a different reality. The illness changed the pace and shifted the boundaries of what’s possible. Now, fishing has become my passion. Something that, at first glance, seems quiet, peaceful—completely different from what it was before.
I need some help
The costs associated with my treatment are very high, which is why today I am reaching out with a heartfelt request for your support during this time. Every bit of help gives me more than just the funds for treatment. It gives me the feeling that I’m not alone in this.
