Onset of illness
When Kajtek was 6 months old, he developed a chronic cough. It wouldn’t go away; it came back every day, giving him no respite. During the visit, the doctor was very concerned about Kajtek’s symptoms. He examined our son thoroughly and told us he would order further tests for a more detailed diagnosis.
A short while later, we heard words that made time stand still. A tumor in the mediastinum. It was news you could never prepare for.
A difficult diagnosis
In mid-April, Kajtek underwent surgery to partially remove the tumor. It was a difficult, emotional day for us, filled with a mix of hope and fear.
The tumor sample taken during the procedure was sent for biopsy so that the doctors could plan further treatment.
The diagnosis came shortly thereafter. Kajtek was diagnosed with neuroblastoma. The tumor was located in his chest. Further tests revealed that cancer cells were also present in his bone marrow.

My son's treatment
Today, Kajtek has completed his first round of chemotherapy.
At this point, we don’t know what the next steps in his treatment will be. Every day brings new information, but also new questions. Kajtek is very weak, and his little body is really feeling the effects of the treatment.
At one point, he needed a blood transfusion to help him regain his strength. The doctors are already planning another major surgery: the removal of the tumor.
Support
Kajtek and his mother are currently at the hospital in Olsztyn. His wife is by his side constantly, day and night. She watches over him at all times.
Kajtek isn't even a year old yet. He's too young to understand what's going on around him. The world, which should be safe and simple, has suddenly become full of procedures, monitors, and unfamiliar faces.
Meanwhile, I’m working and taking care of my two older children, who are of school age. My older daughter, Kajtka, is 14, and my younger son is 3. The siblings are very close. Today, illness has forced the whole family to divide their time between home and the hospital.
Help needed
Today, we’re asking for your support. Every bit of help, every kind word, and every share means the world to us. This allows us to focus on what matters most: treating Kajtek and standing by him as he fights for his life and health.
