Hospital Inspection
In August 2025, our son, Kuba, hit his head while playing. We went to the hospital for a checkup to make sure he was okay.
To be on the safe side, however, a number of tests were performed. One of them revealed a slight change in the left kidney. We were told that it’s most likely nothing serious and that monitoring it will suffice.
A follow-up exam a few months later showed that the lesion had grown. However, we were still told that this was normal and that there was nothing to worry about.
Kidney tumor
During the next ultrasound, the doctor fell silent for a long moment. We were told that there was a tumor about 5 centimeters in size in our son’s left kidney. The world came to a standstill in an instant. Fear, disbelief, and thousands of questions flooded our minds all at once.
Kuba was urgently referred to Przylądek Nadziei in Wrocław. Tests there revealed a second tumor. Shortly thereafter, we were told that the tumor was malignant.
Treatment
From that moment on, we devoted ourselves entirely to our son’s treatment. Kuba began chemotherapy. He received his first treatment in Wrocław, and the subsequent ones in Kielce. Watching your own child go through such a difficult treatment is an experience that cannot be put into words.
In early June, we received new information. The smaller tumor responded to chemotherapy, but the larger one grew slightly. The doctors decided to change the treatment. However, the new chemotherapy only slightly reduced the size of the larger tumor.
Surgery and Follow-up Care
In July, our son will undergo surgery to remove a tumor along with his left kidney. The specialists will then be able to collect a sample for histopathological examination, after which they will determine the appropriate postoperative treatment.
In addition, our son has been struggling with vision problems since birth. We’re currently in the hospital with Kuba. This place has become our second home.
We kindly ask for your support for Kuba
The costs associated with our son’s treatment are growing every week and far exceed our financial means, which is why we are asking for your support. We believe that, thanks to his treatment and the generosity of kind-hearted people, Kuba will recover.
Thank you for all the help, kind words, prayers, and for sharing our story. For our little boy, this means more than we can put into words.
