Just three weeks before her diagnosis, Ewa had started a new job and was trying to settle into her daily routine. Everything changed after preventive screenings that were supposed to be nothing more than a routine checkup. Instead of a sense of peace, she received a diagnosis of malignant breast cancer that had metastasized to the lymph nodes. Today, Ewa is fighting not only cancer but also pain, loss of mobility, and immense fear for her family’s future.

Diagnosis following routine tests

Last October, during a routine checkup, Ewa was diagnosed with malignant breast cancer in her left breast that had spread to her lymph nodes. The news of her illness came as a complete shock and completely changed her life.

Just moments before, she had been making plans for her daily life, her work, and time spent with her loved ones. From the moment of her diagnosis, everything became secondary to her treatment and the fight to regain her health. The hardest part, however, was that the disease very quickly began to rob Ewa of her independence and mobility—things she had previously taken for granted.

Surgery and extensive treatment

On February 19, 2026, Ewa underwent surgery to remove the tumor along with part of her breast and to excise the lymph nodes in her left armpit. This marked the beginning of a very difficult journey through cancer treatment. She is currently undergoing chemotherapy. She still has several stages of treatment ahead of her: hormone therapy, cyclosporine, zoledronic acid, and radiation therapy, which will begin in June 2026.

Ewa’s body is very weak. Every day, she copes with the side effects of chemotherapy: nausea, chronic fatigue, insomnia, and a general feeling of malaise. Losing her hair is also a very difficult experience, as is the realization of just how much the disease has affected her body and her daily life.

Even the simplest tasks have become a challenge

After the surgery and the removal of her lymph nodes, Ewa’s left arm has not fully recovered. Her arm remains swollen and sore, and every movement is difficult and painful. Ewa is unable to raise it above her elbow or carry even light objects.

Tasks she used to perform automatically now require help from others. Making tea, preparing breakfast, hanging up laundry, or even putting on a T-shirt have become enormous challenges. Ewa is having a very hard time coping with her loss of mobility. Doctors openly say that a return to her previous physical work will likely no longer be possible. This is a huge psychological and emotional blow to her.

The illness affected the whole family

Ewa is currently on sick leave, and her reduced income and rising medical costs are causing her tremendous stress. She is also in desperate need of psychological support, but her financial situation makes even that kind of help difficult to obtain.

In this battle, she is supported by her husband and three daughters: two adults and one teenager. Every day, her loved ones try to help her with her daily tasks and give her the strength to continue her treatment, even though they themselves are deeply affected by Ewa’s suffering and their fear for her health. Before her illness, Ewa loved going on motorcycle rallies with her husband and working in the garden. Today, she has had to put many of these things aside, focusing all her energy on fighting for her health and regaining at least some of her former strength.

Please support Ewa

The funds raised will be used for rehabilitation, psychological support, travel expenses for treatment, and daily costs related to her illness and proper nutrition. Every donation provides real help for Ewa—a chance for rehabilitation, regaining her strength, and a smoother journey through the extremely difficult process of cancer treatment.
