The diagnosis came after the baby was born.
The disease was diagnosed in 2020, a few months after giving birth. Ewa was the mother of a six-month-old son when routine tests detected metastases in her liver. It was only later that the primary tumor in her breast was identified.
From that moment on, the disease became widespread and recurrent. There was no time to get used to the idea of treatment. There was an immediate need to act and an awareness that the fight would be long and extremely demanding.
Years of intensive treatment
Since her diagnosis, Ewa has undergone successive lines of therapy, including targeted chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and participation in clinical trials. In 2021, she underwent a mastectomy of her right breast, a year later her thymus was removed, and in 2024 she had lymph node surgery. The disease returned almost every year. Each new therapy brought hope, but none of them permanently stopped the cancer.
A lonely fight
Ewa has been living in London for nearly twenty years . Shortly after her diagnosis, her relationship broke down, and a court ruling prevented her from returning to Poland with her son because his father is a British citizen. All of Ewa's immediate family remained in Poland.
She has been unable to work for over six years. Her daily life is filled with treatment, side effects of therapy, caring for her child, and a growing sense of isolation. The lack of consistent support and long-term illness have naturally exacerbated her difficult financial and emotional situation.
Why your support is needed
Today, Ewa finds herself at a point where the public healthcare system does not offer any further targeted treatment options. The fundraiser aims to provide access to non-reimbursed medications, additional diagnostic tests, private specialist consultations, psychological support, and possible treatment in private clinics.
This is the only chance to continue fighting for life and for a shared future with my beloved child.Without financial assistance, access to these opportunities remains out of reach.
