It all started with a stomachache
Emilian began complaining of severe abdominal pain. The pain wouldn’t go away, so we went to the emergency room at the hospital in Gdańsk. After numerous tests, the doctors decided that Emilian had to be admitted to the ward. An obstruction was detected in the small intestine. A few days later, my son was transferred to the University Clinical Center in Gdańsk. Further diagnostic tests began there.
Fear and helplessness
After further tests , we received a devastating diagnosis: B-cell Burkitt’s lymphoma. It came as a huge shock to our entire family. Fear, helplessness, and a thousand questions suddenly flooded in, turning our lives into a struggle for my son’s health and future.
Difficult treatment
For Emilian, his stay in the hospital became a new and difficult reality, marked by a series of diagnoses, test results, and hours spent in the ward. Every day is a struggle not only against his illness, but also against fear and stress.
A Childhood Spent in the Hospital
The illness has had a profound effect on Emilian. He has become withdrawn, refuses to get out of bed, and often reacts with fear to new situations. He feels nauseous every day. This is a very difficult time for him , one that no child should have to face. The diagnosis was a huge shock for the whole family. At first, it was hard to accept what had happened. However , we’re all trying to support Emilian as best we can.
Before his diagnosis, my son loved all kinds of physical activity. He loved riding his bike and playing soccer. When evening came, he found peace in playing with building blocks and video games.
