The beginning of a path full of suffering
The first signs of the impending danger appeared in October 2022. Persistent fever, increasing weakness, and fluid accumulation in the pleura, initially resembling a common infection, quickly revealed a dramatically different reality. During a decortication procedure, more than two liters of fluid were removed from the right pleura. This moment shattered the illusion of a harmless illness and revealed a process deeply hidden beneath everyday life, which had seemed stable just a moment before.
The diagnosis was urgently expanded. The result left no room for hope that it was a mistake. Stage IV non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, classified as a high-risk disease, became a new, brutal reality.
For Artur, it sounded like an echo from the past. In 2012, he underwent treatment for desmoplastic melanoma, and now, after years of peace, he heard a diagnosis that brought fear back into his life.
Multi-stage treatment, transplant, and long months of struggle
In 2022 , intensive induction treatment began, consisting of six cycles of R CHOP and R DHAP immunochemotherapy. Once his body had endured this phase, a stem cell transplant was performed on June 1, 2023.
After completing high-dose therapy, maintenance treatment with rituximab was initiated, and Artur received eleven doses of the drug, to which his body responded well.

However, the price his body paid turned out to be enormous. He lost his immunity and for many months has been living with a debilitating fever reaching 38 degrees, recurring respiratory tract infections, acute sinusitis, pneumonia, and bacterial infections.
He is being transferred between hematology, internal medicine, infectious disease, and immunology wards. None of the centers is able to fully halt the progressive deterioration, and each passing day means a struggle with increasing weakness.
Loneliness, the breakdown of family life, and lack of access to treatment
The illness struck his entire world with a force that could not have been predicted. Shortly before he fell ill, his wife left him, taking their three minor children with her, and with them, his health insurance. Registering as unemployed became the only way to retain his right to cancer treatment and to continue his therapy, at least to a minimal extent.
Today, his situation has become even more dramatic. A Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) medical examiner granted him rehabilitation benefits, which Artur is not receiving due to a formal error on the part of his employer. As a result , he has been deprived of both benefits and the right to National Health Fund (NFZ) coverage. He found himself without means of subsistence, without insurance, and without any systemic protection, which in the case of cancer determines safety, treatment, and the future.

Since April, no payments have appeared in his account. Artur lives alone in a rented studio apartment, struggling with constant fever and profound weakness, dependent on a body that loses more strength with each passing week. He receives his only hot meal of the day thanks to the support of a social welfare center, which painfully shows how little separates him from complete helplessness.
Of his three children, only his fourteen-year-old son visits him. He comes once a week to be close to his father, even if only for a moment. Contact with the other two is limited, although each of the children has tried to support him.
Daily challenges that weigh you down
Lack of immunity, constant fever, profound weakness, and complete lack of access to free medical treatment are a burden that cannot be borne alone. Every visit, every test, and every medication becomes not only a medical problem, but above all a financial one. During his last stay at the CSK WUM hospital, due to a lack of health insurance, Artur had to discharge himself from the hospital at his own request.
In a condition where health depends on regular check-ups, the lack of insurance undermines the foundations of security, which is absolutely essential in cancer treatment.
This is no longer a request. It is a plea for help.
Artur lives in dramatic conditions today, which leave him no margin for normality. Every morning begins with the same question: will he manage to survive another day in a state where even basic medical care is out of reach? His ability to continue treatment and ensure basic living conditions depends on our help.
The funds raised will be used to pay National Health Fund contributions, further hospital treatment, diagnostic tests, rehabilitation, and basic needs such as rent, food, and clothing. This is help that can truly save lives.
Today, Artur is in a place where he cannot cope on his own. He needs our help more than ever.
