In 2016, I was diagnosed with cancer in my left breast. I still remember that moment to this day. The fear, the disbelief, and the question that wouldn’t leave my mind: What happens next?
Shortly thereafter, I underwent a mastectomy of my left breast followed by reconstruction. I had to learn to live with my new reality. I thought the hardest part was behind me, but the disease had a different plan in store for me.
Metastases, treatment, surgeries
Since the diagnosis, the cancer has metastasized to the sternum and the acetabulum. Doctors have tried various treatments, including palliative radiation therapy and chemotherapy.
I also participated in the Rybocyklib drug program; I was given Goserelin every 28 days and was put on Letrozole. Each stage brought hope, but also new challenges and side effects.
In 2024, I underwent another surgery: an implant replacement in my left breast and a mastectomy with reconstruction of my right breast. Each surgery left its mark not only on my body but also on my psyche.
It's hard to find the strength
Cancer has taken away much more from me than just my health. Over time, I’ve developed depression and insomnia. There are days when it’s hard to find the strength within myself. It’s getting harder and harder for me to concentrate, and I lack the energy even for the simplest tasks. I’ve withdrawn from social life. Today, I spend most of my time at home.
As if that weren’t enough, I’m also dealing with polyarticular osteoarthritis, multilevel disc disease, a complicated cyst in my left kidney, and an enlarged calyx-pelvis system in my right kidney. Each of these conditions adds another burden to my daily life.
Before the illness
My life used to be completely different. I loved to dance. When I danced, I felt free, light, and joyful. I painted pictures because colors allowed me to express emotions I couldn’t put into words.
I used to enjoy attending concerts, exhibitions, and cultural events. All of that gave me strength. Today, unfortunately, everything has changed.
Please support me
The treatment is ongoing, and with it come high costs. It’s becoming increasingly difficult for me to handle all of this on my own, which is why I’m reaching out to you with a heartfelt request to support my fundraiser.
I thank you from the bottom of my heart for every act of kindness, every kind word, and every bit of help. It is thanks to people with big hearts that it is easier to believe that even in the most difficult moments, it is possible to find hope.
