Victoria battles aplastic anemia

She was active, joyful and spent every waking moment playing.

On April 6, at night, she suddenly suffered a severe nose and mouth hemorrhage, which her parents could not stop. The ambulance service called took them first to a hospital in Swidnica, and from there directly to the "Cape of Hope" in Wroclaw. At that time it was still unknown whether it was leukemia or something else. The tests performed made it possible to make the diagnosis: aplastic anemia.

Since then, the parents have taken turns at the "Cape of Hope", where the girl is given transfusions that save her life. Without the administration of blood and platelets, the child would no longer be alive. During short stays at home, the parents have to pay attention to every bruise on Victoria's body and react quickly.

Recently, doctors decided that the last chance for the girl is a bone marrow transplant. A date has been set for early December. An unrelated donor has been found. Preparing the girl for the transplant will begin soon. There is little time, but Victoria needs to have all her teeth healed later in November. Victoria's parents fear for their daughter's life every day.
