Until recently, Wiktor’s biggest worries were the usual childhood dilemmas: which puzzle to put together, which toy car to play with the longest today, and how fast to ride his scooter. Everything changed after he contracted RSV. A routine blood test set off a cascade of further diagnoses, consultations, and hospital hallways. Today, five-year-old Wiktor, instead of enjoying a carefree childhood, must face a serious cancer and exhausting treatment.

A diagnosis no one saw coming
In March 2026, after recovering from an RSV infection, doctors noticed concerning blood test results. Wiktor was becoming increasingly drowsy, and he began vomiting and losing his appetite. His parents knew something was wrong, but no one could have imagined how serious the diagnosis would turn out to be.
After further tests, the words that sound like a nightmare to any parent were uttered: acute B-cell lymphoblastic leukemia. From that moment on, the whole family’s life changed completely. Everything became focused on the fight for Wiktor’s health and life.
The hospital became part of everyday life.
In early April, Wiktor underwent a procedure to have a Broviac catheter inserted, which is necessary for intensive treatment. The boy is currently undergoing treatment according to the INTER B-NHL 2010 RITUX protocol and is already in his third cycle of treatment.
Every day brings more tests, medication, and a tremendous strain on his little body. The hospital has become the place where Wiktor spends most of his time. His parents take turns staying by his side, trying to give him a sense of security and closeness despite the very difficult situation.
A family torn between the hospital and home
At home, Wiktor has two younger sisters, aged four and two and a half. For the whole family, the illness was a sudden blow that turned their daily lives upside down. Every day, his parents try to balance caring for their seriously ill son with looking after their other children. It’s an enormous emotional burden, because it’s impossible to be at home and at the hospital at the same time. They all miss each other. The sisters miss their brother, and Wiktor misses them and a normal childhood.
The illness has robbed the family of their sense of security and stability. Furthermore, the financial aspect greatly complicates the situation. One of the parents has practically lost the ability to work, while the costs associated with treatment and daily living continue to rise.
A childhood full of dreams
Wiktor loves cars, doing puzzles, and riding his scooter. It is these simple childhood passions that most remind the family today of life before the diagnosis—of a time when everyday life was peaceful and playing together brought the greatest joy.
The funds raised will help cover the costs of psychological care, rehabilitation, and non-reimbursable medications, and will support the family during this extremely difficult time in their lives and financial situation. We ask for your support for Wiktor and his loved ones. Every donation not only helps with his treatment but also provides immense support to the family, who fight every day for their son’s health and try to preserve at least a little bit of normalcy.
