Diagnoses
Vanessa was only 4 years old when her childhood was marked by a diagnosis: neurofibromatosis. At an age when most children are discovering the world through play and carefree laughter, she had to face her illness.
When Vanessa was 8 years old, more growths appeared in her mouth: a lipoma and a myoma.
Two years ago, another piece of extremely difficult news came. Eye exams revealed the presence of gliomas in both eye sockets. The tumors turned out to be inoperable. Once again, the world of Vanessa and her loved ones came to a standstill for a moment. Fear set in.
Therapy
In 2024, Vanessa was admitted to Cape of Hope, where she was approved for treatment with Koselugo. This treatment offers the possibility of shrinking certain tumors and alleviating their associated symptoms.
Vanessa has undergone the removal of a lump in her mouth as well as numerous dental procedures. Each of these procedures was yet another challenge in her uneven battle with the illness she has been fighting since childhood.

Everyday Life
These days, Vanessa spends most of her time at home under her mother’s loving care. Her mother is by her side every day. She supports her, comforts her during difficult times, and gives her strength when she feels discouraged. Vanessa isn’t alone in this battle. She also has two brothers who are deeply affected by their sister’s illness.
Passions
Despite all her difficulties, Vanessa is a cheerful and sensitive girl. She loves art more than anything. She can spend hours painting pictures and creating colorful bead designs. In those moments, she forgets about her illness and is transported to a world full of color, imagination, and dreams.
She also enjoys riding her bike, which gives her a sense of freedom and allows her to leave her everyday worries behind, if only for a moment. It is through art and her passions that Vanessa finds strength, joy, and hope.
Request for support
Due to the numerous procedures and dental conditions in Vanessa's mouth, further dental treatment and the fitting of braces are necessary.
Every bit of help offers a real chance at treatment that will improve her quality of life and allow her to look to the future with greater peace of mind.
