Update

Another extremely difficult stage❗
Szymon's struggle continues and, unfortunately, has become even more complicated. After a long course of chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant from an unrelated donor, which brought some relief, Szymon's body began to face severe post-transplant complications. Szymon experienced a reactivation of the Epstein–Barr virus, which we reported on in our previous update. Today, we know that This situation developed into a very serious post-transplant complication, requiring further specialist treatment. At the same time, there were subsequent viral infections, including CMV and BKV, which further weaken the body and significantly hinder the treatment process.

The greatest burden was also the graft-versus-host reaction, which affected the skin and gastrointestinal tract. This complication causes severe discomfort and pain and requires intensive therapy to prevent further damage to the body.

Szymon is under constant care of specialists at the hospital. His condition requires constant monitoring, further decisions, and great vigilance. We ask for your continued support. December 22, 2025
The fight for Simon's life - continued❗
The battle for the teenager's life and health continues at a Poznan hospital. The fight against leukemia of alternate phenotype - a rare and dangerous disease - continues uninterrupted since 01/10/2024.
Chemotherapy and transplantation
After endlessly drawn out chemotherapy, a bone marrow transplant from an unrelated donor was required on May 28, 2025. Just when everyone dared to breathe a sigh of relief after receiving the news that the transplant was accepted, complications arose.
EBV and the next battle
The Epstein-Barr virus, which has awakened in Simon's body, can wipe out months of struggle. Doctors know how to counteract it. It is necessary to transfuse lymphocytes from the same donor. Unfortunately, The cost of the therapy is as much as 150 thousand zlotys, and the procedure is not reimbursed. The loved ones are asking for support in obtaining the required amount - thanking you for any help you can give August 28, 2025
Treatment has been implemented❗
Simon has already undergone the first cycles of intensive chemotherapy. Although the initial plan includes seven cycles, the number may change depending on the results of tests. Doctors also do not rule out a bone marrow transplant, if it proves necessary. In addition to the grueling treatment, Simon faces side effects: extreme weakness, lack of appetite, weight loss and worsening bronchial asthma symptoms.
Simon needs support to get through the treatment that now sets the rhythm of his life. Any help makes a difference.

Explore the history of

A mere fainting...

Until a few months ago, nothing foreshadowed the tragedy. Simon fainted once, but quickly recovered, so everyone treated it as a minor incident. However, when the situation recurred in July, there was concern. The family doctor, suspecting epilepsy, ordered EEG tests and a head MRI. The results were normal, so Simon returned to everyday life. The lack of a diagnosed cause for the fainting spells, however, did not give the family peace of mind.

Symptoms that could not be silenced

In September, it began to become clear that this was not the end of Simon's health problems. He increasingly complained of abdominal pains that did not pass. With time, vomiting and a persistent fever appeared. Simon's body grew weaker by the day. When he suddenly began to lose weight, there was real fear in the house. This time doctors suspected appendicitis, but tests quickly showed that it was not his condition that was the source of his suffering.

Hematology, diagnosis and finally diagnosis

The results of the blood tests performed were alarming. As a matter of urgency, Simon was referred to the hematology department, where the family heard the diagnosis: acute leukemia of mixed phenotype. Suddenly the world around turned into a place of struggle for life.

The disease brutally invaded his world, taking away the certainty of tomorrow and forcing him to fight a grueling battle for life.
The treatment that consumes everything

Simon has begun intensive chemotherapy. It has been tentatively scheduled for seven cycles, although neither the doctors nor the family know yet whether this will be enough. The teenager's body is struggling not only with the devastating treatment, but also with the weakness and recurrence of bronchial asthma compounded by it. Every day is a test of endurance for Simon. Fortunately, his loved ones are always, right next to him, watching over him.

A family that can't turn back

For Simon's parents, daily life is a constant struggle with both their son's disease and the costs, which increase with each visit, examination, commute or purchase of specialized drugs. They cope because there is no other way out. After all, in this struggle there is no other option but to move on, hoping that they will not be left alone in this journey.

Let's help Simon! Let's not let the disease write the ending to this story.
