Diagnosis
When we heard our son’s diagnosis—acute lymphoblastic leukemia—our world came to a standstill in an instant.
Just a moment earlier, we were living an ordinary life, full of plans, dreams, and everyday concerns. Suddenly, everything lost its meaning. All that remained was fear, disbelief, and the question no parent should ever have to ask: Why our child?
Treatment and complications
Ever since that day, our son has been fighting an incredibly difficult battle every single day. He has already spent dozens of hours in hospital wards, undergone numerous punctures and procedures, and faced endless tests.
The treatment led to many serious complications. She developed pneumonia, osteoporosis, numerous vertebral fractures, polyneuropathy, and scoliosis. Each of these diagnoses was another blow, another obstacle on the road to recovery.
Family
Today, our son Szymon requires constant care. His illness has completely transformed our daily lives, and every day has become a struggle to ensure his comfort, safety, and at least a little bit of normalcy.
His adult siblings, who live in another city, have also gotten involved in helping out. Despite the distance and their own responsibilities, they’re doing everything they can to be there for Szymon. They support us, come to visit, and help in any way they can.
Support
Before he got sick, Szymon was full of energy: active, curious about the world, and passionate about sports. He tried all kinds of activities. Today, instead of sports fields and physical activity, he’s in hospital rooms.
Every day brings new challenges, including the need to adapt our home so that Szymon can function safely. All of this involves enormous costs that are beyond our means.
We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all your support.
