Update
Sonia recently started her last treatment protocol❗.
Despite constant isolation, and a lot of medication, the girl does not lose her zeal to fight. Ahead of her is her last scheduled long stay in the hospital. Her family hopes that this is the last such long separation from the girl. October 31, 2024Sonia is bravely enduring the hardships of treatment. She has 1.5 years of chemotherapy ahead of her❗.
Sonia continues her journey for a healthy life. In August, she will begin her fifth month of treatment. There is still a very long way to go until its completion, but the little Warrior is very determined to prevail! With the support of loving loved ones, it can be no different! The girl is about to start her third cycle of taking methotrexate, an anti-cancer drug in the form of an IV drip. This is a very exhausting procedure that requires Sonia to remain immobilized for 24 hours, and then for another 48 hours due to the need to flush her body. Our heroine has to undergo four such cycles. When the treatment cycle is over, Sonia can go home for a while - if the results allow, of course. At home, she feels decidedly better, more at ease, returns to herself more quickly and feels decidedly more joy in everyday life. Although she is only three years old, she understands the necessity of hospital visits. "Sonia is invariably smiling, full of desire to interact with people and other children. She understands every hospital visit. For her age, she understands a lot more than we all think!" - says Sonia's Mom The tiny Warrior has a very long way to go before the end of treatment. Scheduled chemotherapy is expected to last for at least another 1.5 years. Let's give a lot of strength to the always smiling Sonya, help her recover and enjoy life! July 31, 2024

It started with a runny nose
There was no indication that it was anything serious. Sonia had a runny nose, a cough and a slightly elevated temperature, like thousands of children at this time of year. However, days passed and the three-year-old's health did not improve. Sleepless nights, emergency room visits one after another. Finally, doctors expanded the diagnostics to include blood tests. The results left no doubt.
In March 2024, a diagnosis was made that shook Sonya's hitherto peaceful world: acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
Hospital instead of kindergarten
When Sonia came to the "Cape of Hope" in Wroclaw, she still had a world in her eyes, in which the biggest problem was the choice of a toy. In an instant, everything changed. She settled in a hospital room, where the smell of disinfectant liquid replaced the smell of dinner from home, and her mother's voice became the most precious sound of the day here. She is the one who gives Sonya the feeling that although everything has fallen apart, their "togetherness" is still unchanged.
Broviac and new words no one wants to know
Recently, Sonia was prepared for further treatment. She was fitted with a Broviac. The new device caused fear, anxiety and questions....
Every day is subordinated to treatment: medications, tests, visits to doctors and nurses.
A world that is no longer childlike
For any child Soni's age, the world is movement, laughter and fun. Soni's world today is one room, an IV pump and waiting for the IV to be disconnected. She doesn't ask why exactly. She doesn't know the words yet. She simply fights - day after day, against what is unpredictable and unfair.
Support is needed
Sonya's mother had to push everything else aside to be there for her daughter. The family has found itself in a situation that requires full commitment - emotionally and financially.
Every zloty helps to get through this time, including covering the costs of commuting, treatment and necessary hygiene products.
