Every day, Rafał learns to live all over again. His illness has robbed him of his health, his job, and the sense of stability that he once took for granted. After his stomach was completely removed, his daily life turned into a constant struggle against weakness, the side effects of treatment, and his own emotions. Today, Rafał’s greatest dream is simply to live peacefully and regain at least a little of his former sense of normalcy.

What appeared to be minor symptoms turned out to be cancer

The first symptoms appeared in 2023. Stomach pain and vomiting gradually began to make it increasingly difficult to go about his daily life. At first, it was hard to believe that a serious cancer was behind it all. The diagnosis, however, was clear: G2 gastric adenocarcinoma, a malignant tumor of the greater curvature of the stomach. From that moment on, Rafał’s life changed completely. A difficult journey began, filled with treatment, hospitals, and the fight for his health.

The surgery that changed his whole life

On August 1, 2023, Rafał underwent extensive surgery. The doctors performed a laparotomy, a total gastrectomy, a D2 lymphadenectomy, and a splenectomy.

It was an extremely difficult time, both physically and mentally. After the surgery, further chemotherapy was necessary, both before and after the procedure. To this day, Rafał remains under constant oncological supervision. His body is very weak, and anemia has become an additional problem, making it difficult for him to function on a daily basis and sapping his strength.

The illness robbed him of his stability

The cancer has affected every aspect of Rafał’s life. The illness has left him unable to work, and he now lives on disability benefits. He also developed depression following his treatment. It is an enormous emotional burden that often goes unnoticed by others, yet it saps his motivation and sense of security every single day.

Rafał currently lives with his mother and is trying to adjust to a reality that, after his illness, looks completely different from what it used to be. As he puts it, every day he lives through is a challenge.

He would like to find peace again

Before his illness, Rafał enjoyed cycling and reading books. Today, he has to devote most of his energy to fighting for his health, regular doctor’s visits, and coping with daily life after undergoing intensive treatment.

The funds raised will be used to cover the cost of medication, psychological support, and transportation related to his cancer treatment and follow-up appointments. Please support Rafał. Every bit of help gives him a chance to undergo treatment with greater peace of mind, regain his strength, and feel that he is not alone in this difficult battle.
