In practice, this means that standard treatment methods often prove ineffective, and therapy must be selected with extreme precision, taking into account the specific nature of the cancer itself.
Neurological symptoms were the first sign of the disease.
At first, there were no signs of lung disease. Severe, persistent headaches and a gradual deterioration in his well-being were the first signs that prompted Paweł to seek answers. Further tests triggered a diagnostic process that quickly led to a difficult diagnosis. The test results showed advanced lung cancer with metastases, the development of which is associated with a mutation in the EGFR gene.
The disease changed everyday life
The cancer has already metastasized to his hip bones. For Paweł, this means pain and increasingly limited mobility. Activities that were a natural part of everyday life not so long ago now require enormous effort and determination. On top of that, he suffers from severe headaches, which on some days can completely sap his strength.
Waiting time for treatment
Paweł remains under medical care and is awaiting the next stage of treatment. In the case of EGFR mutation in exon 20, treatment must be selected with extreme precision. Unfortunately , the therapy that offers the best chance of halting the disease in this situation is not currently covered by reimbursement.
This means incurring enormous costs, which are almost impossible for one person to bear.
The illness stopped work
Not long ago, Paweł led an active life and worked professionally. Today, his illness completely prevents him from working. The loss of his source of income means that, in addition to fighting for his health, he also has to deal with the burden of daily obligations that do not disappear despite his illness. The immediate goal is to start therapy that will give Paweł a chance to stop the disease. The cost of treatment exceeds the capabilities of one person, which is why Paweł is now asking for help.
