"Just moments earlier, Natalia had been feeling fine. None of us expected that a simple blood count would become the beginning of a fight for her health."
One blood test. Done practically on occasion.

Until recently, Natalia's daily life looked exactly like that of many of her peers: school, home, small passions, and the ordinary things that fill a teenage girl's days.

There were no symptoms of illness. Absolutely nothing to indicate that anything alarming was happening in his body.

Natalia was taking strong dermatological medications for acne under a doctor's supervision. After a month of treatment, follow-up blood tests were necessary. A routine blood count, a routine procedure, was simply to confirm that the treatment was being well-tolerated. The results were supposed to be reassuring. However, they turned out to be very poor.

The family immediately went to the doctor, still believing it was just a laboratory error. The hope of error was the last thought they wanted to cling to.

Instead of reassurance, however, there was an immediate referral to a specialist center.

Natalia was taken to Przylądek Nadziei in Wrocław, where a thorough diagnostic process began. A bone marrow puncture confirmed the doctors' suspicions.

The diagnosis was clear: B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

Everyday life suddenly changed its direction

Natalia has been in hospital for two weeks and has started steroid treatment and chemotherapy.

The first phase of therapy will last approximately six months. During this time, treatment takes place primarily in a hospital setting , with short breaks for returning home.

After its completion , a further year and a half of maintenance treatment is planned, conducted at home.

Natalia's body is already very weak , even though treatment has only just begun. Her bone marrow doesn't yet produce its own blood cells, so transfusions are necessary every few days.

The body's immunity is very low , and every day requires great caution and constant medical care.

Her mother is watching over her daughter's bed

Life, however, didn't just stop in the hospital room. There were issues at home that also required care and attention.

There, her father and older sister are waiting. The family is trying to come to terms with a reality that has changed suddenly and without warning. The entire burden of daily life has shifted towards a single goal: Natalia's treatment.

What was previously orderly and predictable suddenly lost its rhythm. Days that had a steady flow are now dictated by the next stages of therapy.

My mother can't return to work. The most important thing now is to be with her daughter during her treatment.

In such moments, what becomes most necessary is to go through treatment calmly and have faith that after it ends, you will be able to return to life, which is only just beginning.
